Cbb update: he has finally gotten tired of chasing his reflection and seems to be settling in more. He will still chase himself but it's not nearly as intense. I tried the clam on a rock thing and he didn't care while the other fish ravaged all three of them. I dumped a ton of live brine in there and I saw him nip at a couple of pieces that hit the rock. He was also sporadically nipping at the rock so I think he is finally getting hungry and is getting at least a little algae. He doesn't look like he's missed a meal.

Yeah. Not green. So was wondering. But we can live with some algae. Can’t wait for Wednesday.
Joking aside I am not familiar with this but have heard of it…look into cotton candy algae. Nasty stuff hard to get rid of but this reminds me of what I read

That’s great! Animals are so stupid. Makes you wonder if your cbb is wild or aquacultured. Mine is clocking in 1.5-2” and I suspect captive bred

But. Why?

A little algae is ok like a spot or two

All of your rock appears to be covered in dying hair algae. Do you have hair algae that’s turning pale/white all over ?
I have been dosing hydrogen peroxide for what 5 days @armyvetheather? It could be thst

Why live with the gha? I have no corals to compete with nutrient update. 6 coral isn’t going to beat a whole tang of algae.

@VintageReefer i feel that once this huge coral order comes in and the light I have less tolerance of the algae. It’s irritating my coral but I am trying to beat it back. Unsuccessfully. I have 10 astra snails 10 turbo 2 urchins and then tangs and a lawnmower blenny. It’s been in check otherwise

It definitly could be from the hydrogen peroxide dosing I would say keep doing it.

Cut back lighting if you can. Looks like you are winning the battle

I've thought about it a lot, like did he just come out of the ocean a week ago or what was he eating before I got him? Find it hard to believe anyone was doing anything special for him before me.

Are you still dosing peroxide? How much? I've had to increase mine to get the remaining algae but it took most of it already.

Whats your plan to export all the nutrients your creating with killing off that much algae?

I mean it seems that it’s being eaten. That said. My skimmer is on the lowest setting (it’s also oversized for my tank and one of the causes my nutrients bottomed out when I started I was running it on max) also rocking 3 filter socks and carbon in a bag.

125g and dosing around 10ml a day. The deeper algae doesn’t seem to be taking the hit but the upper algae in the column do seem to be falling off
That's what I've experienced so far as well. I don't have too much left, but the places that are left affected are where it's really thick. I'm mostly happy though.

Glad to hear it’s going well! I never had luck getting them to eat on my own. Copped out and got one from a friend who already had it trained to eat frozen. He goes after every and anything I dump in the tank from mysis to trying to tackle a large chunk of beef heart.
