This wasnt a too expensive setup for emergencies, can even put a little automatic failover switch in for $50 or so.

I would but I want no batteries left near my tank. with the recent car fire from batteries at work and my knowledge of lithium and salt water, I cant do it.

When we replace the roof I will get solar and battery backup. Probably in the next 2 years.
Thats a losing proposition IMO. Even down here in FL where solar is prime from our long sunny days. Better off doing isolated systems/inverters for critical equipment because there typically isnt that much critical equipment, unless your power is that unreliable.

I have to maintain/replace about 6 deep cycle (3 for boat 3 for trolling motor) AGMs on my boat. That is not a fun bill to keep up with.

If I do there will be at least a 10 to 20 year warrantee on the batteries.

So dont use lithium. Thats an old butt trolling motor battery from my jon boat, can run the entire tank for a half hour, if i just did pumps i could get some serious run time. I have 6 batteries i can parallel in an actual emergency.

Recently installed a new electrical panel and transfer switch, and have a couple generators. Boat holds 100+ gallons any given time so Id just run the fuel line to generator. Hurricane prep is easy now.

Yeah every marine store has battery boxes. Walmart probably does too. Really only need to keep it off of concrete if you go with an AGM. The one pictured is a 2016 lead acid, way past its service life and i never maintained it. Carried the tank during the panel change out for 30min at peak light. Last AGMs i took off the boat were 7 years old and still had plenty of life.

HMMM copper still expensive? And any power loss in long runs.
Yeah 12VDC you have to Guage fat. Lower voltage signifiantly more amps. Depending on load**You want to try to stay within 25ft youncan get away with welding cables as cheapest option - 8 gauge. Guys do it for 50amp trolling motors all the time.

Still the inverter $300ish, battery $200ish copper $100.... a fresh deep cycle will run an avg tank for a couple hours if not longer, just calculate your AH.

hm 600. think ill stick with the dewalt battery hooked to a jack directly linked to pump for now. I can get my wife to pay for more batteries but not a 600 dollar setup to run tank. Going to sneak it into the solar setup

I have a portable generator that wouldn't start when needed so I ran the return pump off the inverter in my truck for 9 hours until the power came back on. Some folks were out for several days.

I am putting a whole house 22 kw natural gas generator on the house in March. Pricey but with 3 tanks full of fish and corals it is worth my peace of mind that it will work when needed.
