What is the white sponge looking thing

It’s not a pineapple sponge (those come from the genus Sycon and typically have a very distinctive look to them), but it does seem to be a white sponge from what I can see. Regardless, unless it starts growing over and smothering your corals, it’s a harmless filter feeder.

It’s not a pineapple sponge (those come from the genus Sycon and typically have a very distinctive look to them), but it does seem to be a white sponge from what I can see. Regardless, unless it starts growing over and smothering your corals, it’s a harmless filter feeder.
It’s under my Monti cap in a few spots. No need to worry about it?

Unless those spots look noticeably unhealthy compared to the rest of the coral, the sponge isn’t bothering it chemically. So, assuming those spots are fine, as long as the sponge doesn’t grow over the coral, the sponge is nothing to worry about.

it will spread as its proferan type and smother coral.
Best and eaiest removal is with a dental pick or small crochet needle and discard.
