Hey everyone. So I’ve had this “sponge” looking thing growing like crazy the last couple months. Just want clarification if it is in fact a “good” sponge and not something I should be worried about. Tank has been running for 11 months. Started with live rock.
unless they start to smother corals you should be fine, i can’t chime in on the specific name or anything but i’ve had these come and go for a couple years with no issue across multiple tanks
Thank you to you both. It was climbing up a gold hammer and I just took it out and pealed it right off. It does look like it’ll take over so that’s what got me worried
Read an interesting article on photosynthetic corals. It appears that cinachyrella alloclada the yellow ball sponge contains some amount of photosynthetic symbiots. Im going to try moving it to higher lighting and see what happens
