Do systems have to adjust to the crt?

I don’t know how to explain this

I have logs back to Dec 2022, my phosphate has only gone over .1 three times

1) spike to .34 after I spilled reef roids
2) measurement of .16 for unknown reasons - was around when I added more fish so possibly system was adjusting to increased bioload and feeding
3) ridiculously high reading of .98 the other day which is right after I fed crt 3x in a week. I stopped. And after 4 days with no water change or intervention my scrubber has it cut in half and down to .55, it will self resolve. But geez. I’m worried about using this stuff again. If I do…I’ll increase testing to daily until I learn the product
Yes he states it multiple times. Essentially youre dosing concentrated bacteria including the po4, no3, and carbon to create it. In the earlier versions you could add or remove food as needed.

If your tank hasnt built up the bacteria to process the food youre just spiking nutes and wasting bacteria.

I dont know the science behind it all, but thats my takeaway based on the information in his thread, and how my tank has responded.

I admit it. You got me. I didn’t read the thread. It’s huge lol.
Sooo maybe I start with 1x a week and then increase to 2x

I didn’t even believe my test results. It was my last reagent pack of course also. More came today. Glad to see a 50% reduction but wow. If I didn’t test a few days ago I would have had no idea. Until things go south. Glad to have prevented an issue

Yeah i mean the entire thing is very experimental in nature and strongly recommend you read the 2023 and forward posts. Understand the DIY stuff to v3 and the recommended doses. Ive been having to test po4 3-4x per week. Its sort of unsettling because the tank becomes alot more high maintenance with the increase of feeding and the subsequent biological processes consuming somewhat unpredictable amounts.

I just upload it to streamable and copy the link over. Sometimes the video function of r2r works but 9/10 it just hangs up.

Reefi uno 2.0. Lots of near UV.

The torch is SBB goldilocks which is a master torch as far as i can tell.

Would 2 reefi-uno be enough for a 48x20x20?

I’m looking into lighting options for my new build and these are on a short list of ones I’m considering

I would do 3 because it would be a stick tank. For LPS that may work. You get 2 reflectors (90 and 120 degree) in box, and can always run 160 (no reflector).

Itll throw 500 par on the sandbed no problem but you may not get the spread you want with two. Since its only 20 deep you can orient them longways (theyre like 7.5x6.5")

I would start with two. My vision is not a reef tank but more like a grow out / showcase tank

Left half would be sticks, high par, and high random flow

right would be low par lps and low flow

middle would be torches and things with medium light/flow needs

The kther thing to consider is you could def start with 2 and you have the whole cycling/curing stage snd finally frags starting to grow to purchase the third. Youre not really going to find a light thatll do more than what the reefi can sithou having to purchase the same amount of lights, only the reefi will be cheaper. I guess the orphek and straton would be the exception, but i think you can get 3 reefis for the cost of 2 orphek

Have you considered photons
Have not. I like the idea of panel lights. I wish reefi had a big panel, that said the reefi power/spread/price is only rivaled by vipars. Everything else is more coin. Im not sure besides the mitras anything really has the grunt the reefi does down low either. Theres a serious amoint of LEDs packed in a reefi, and alot of 400, 420, and 440s IIRC

A photon 48 will light the whole tank easily and can get 350ish par on the sandbed and cover a footprint of 48x24 for sps
It has 30 less watts than 1 reefi. I suppose it could be a moot point if the spread, spectrum and PAR is adequate or better. The reefis more than capable of covering 24x24 but i think shading with SPS could be troublesome as always. On my 6ft 125 i have 3, 2 xr30s splitting my braces so theres apuck on each side, and a reefbrite in the back.

Found the pic of the led count per channel with the nm ratings. This is for a photon 24 so just double the led count

Also found par map

Not trying to argue anything just throwing out an option

I don’t think watts really matters because any quality fixture doesn’t need to be run at 100%

I run mine 35-40%, with white on 8% and get 125-150 sandbed, 300 at the highest point on my scape

I don’t use the red or green channels

The led bars mount right to the built in tslot screws / rails also

Anyways I do like the panel light, matrix layout and performance

But this new build I want dual zone so I’m leaning towards two matrix layout lights so I can have one side tweaked higher but not melt my lps

I could do two photon 16” mounted front to back, each covers 24x24. But tbh I’ve used photons so long, I’m just curious about trying something that’s new to me and the reefi gets lots of praise.
