Lol..the point is to have less gyres...and they are already controllable. A bigger gyre could spin slower and still create a lot of flow without it being turbulent.

Aka a motor, some pvc, a saw and some gumption
A waterproof motor that can be adjusted down really low, it would need enough power to turn 1 foot blades on either side….

Makes me want to go buy a bunch of gyres that I can hack up and reassemble

Ok SBB experts I need your advice. My plan was to float my shipment to acclimate temp. Then move to my dipping tank. However I just read on the wwc website it’s not advised to dip corals right after shipping. What’s everyone’s recommendation?

I always dip any new corals. Haven’t had any issues doing so

Dip, always dip, never not dip.

KCl is the preferred dip on the SBB threads.

What’s the worst pest you’ve delt with? Aptasia here. I have coral dip but just feel like I’m better off right now letting a lot ride.
AEFW was the worst. Aiptasia the second. Bubble algae is manageable with utilitarian fish.

Most things you can't avoid, sooner or later one will slip through.

I know a guy who refused to "allow" bristleworms into his tank. Said he dipped and quarantined everything.

I received some frags from him and told him I dipped them and they were clean except for a bristleworm. He flipped out, saying it was impossible.

Also dipping isn't all about eradication, it gives you a chance to inspect things. If I saw another frag with AEFE it would go straight to the trash.

I also wouldn't want to get zoa spiders.

Or euphyllia eating flatworms.

Just don't chance it, things could wipe out colonies.

What eats bubble algae? I’m really fed up with the stuff lol

Someone said algaefix I may try that. But finding stuff that eats the stuff I don’t want is helpful

Usually fox face is recommended but they get spoiled and don’t do what they are advertised to do. Emerald crab eats it for sure but takes time.

Foxface does a good job, he doesn't pick at it on the overflow or on the gyres, I scrape it off those. But everywhere else there's zero bubble algae.

Also the fact I pulled a rock from the tank and place it in another. In a few weeks I had bubble algae growing on it. So he kept it cleaned before I moved it.

Yeah my foxface also has taken a liking to my Duncan coral. So there's also that issue with them.
