Will peroxide harm fish or corals?

Peroxide is used as a dip for fish usually for ich n velvet. It provides temporary relief . The ratio I forget but it’s diluted as direct contact can cause irritation if open wounds especially in the gills.

You can also use it to dip Zoas and zoas only. Direct contact or over dosing peroxide will kill your corals. I believe the ratio that is recommended is 6ml per 25g. However it can also with observation be done at 6@10g. It’s a spread dosing.

Uv spectrum aka your lights almost instantly react with it degrading. I suggest a before light on during and after light out. My 60 is spread into 3x 20ml doses.

The downside to peroxide is a weakened bacteria pop both good and bad. Obviously don’t dose if adding or attempting to grow a certain bacteria.

Just some info on peroxide for those using it.

It often contains stabilizers, some are not a problem but it could contain tin in the form of colloidal stannate.

Food Grade hydrogen peroxide is free of stabilizers.

Some labels list a stabilizer, some don't, but if it doesn't specifically say "contains no stabilizer" error on it probably does.

H2O2 causes oxidation which is why it can harm some things if dosed in too high of concentration

The good news! It breaks down relatively quickly in our tanks. With an average half-life of 25-30minutes

My black o. Is the female and when she was in the biocube she nipped me once or twice. Flicked her and that stuff stopped. Wouldn’t recommend it, but I foresee when they lay eggs them being jerks

Ironically mine have never been overly aggressive. We’ll, at least in the roughly 3 years I’ve had them.

My stupid new Mocha started biting me. I'm considering trying again to see if it works every time or if it's just a one-off

Someone should make a really big/long gyre. One that's big and could spin slow so it didn't make a ton of fast flow but a big wide flow pattern.

My lightning finally calmed down, I haven't been attacked in awhile, I chased her for about 10 minutes with a glove once.

That's what I've been doing lately when she bites me. I chase her around the tank and pretend I'm going to pick her up. She doesn't like it too much and usually won't bite me again for a couple of days.
