Same location and everything as before. From memory, pH is mostly a formula of alk, salinity, temp, and dissolved co2.
Did you mix it outside or do anything different than normal?
Odd that you dont run red sea coral pro, aside from its alkalinity it would give you your desired parameters with no additional dosing.
tenuishey @SBB Corals , what types of acro's do u sell?(for research)
just those?(and thanks )tenuis
Speciosa, granulosa, millepora, spathulata....to name a few. I'm not heavy versed in all the different typesjust those?(and thanks )
ok thanks, I just need those for research on chemistry and husbandrySpeciosa, granulosa, millepora, spathulata....to name a few. I'm not heavy versed in all the different types
Yeah my calcium was 400, still not inadequately low. Otherwise Lithium and Iodine were the only others I saw. Here's the calcium and mag differences claimed by af
Sea salt
Reef salt
Bro...I can't even tell you with a straight face that I know what a corallite is. I think I do...but wouldn't bet my life on it. Most of them thrive under the same care IME.ok thanks, I just need those for research on chemistry and husbandry
ye, but Im new, and Looking for a challenge lol, and idk why its sooo hard, its just do some manual labor each week, and test each week, like WAAAAT, why and how is that hard? yes, ik, imma get lazy after a while, BUT NO, I'm fully committed to thisBro...I can't even tell you with a straight face that I know what a corallite is. Is that coralline's cousin?Bro...I can't even tell you with a straight face that I know what a corallite is. I think I do...but wouldn't bet my life on it. Most of them thrive under the same care IME.
Hm, the most i can say is anecdotal in that my RSCP mixes up very high pH i think 8.6ish. I always assumed it was because it was fresh water with high alk. Since youre getting similar results with AF, although lower alk, perhaps the reef crystals is the outliar. Regardless my WC pH will spike my pH as i pump it into the sump but equalize with the tank water and atmosphere co2 shortly thereafter.Same location and everything as before.
I monitor the CO2 in my home, and know if I open windows my pH increases a bit but even then it's not much. I have an outside air line to the skimmer also. Just started refugiums.
I'll check it again this afternoon, it will be a full 24 hours mixing. I might mix a small batch of Reef crystals too.
its the flowery polyp thing u see on acro fragsIs that coralline's cousin?
Sorry for the loss!morning all, just woke up to my new clown out of the tank, dead, but this is the second one dead(last time I got 2, the black one died the next day, now its the same, I cant anymore)
Thats the polyp.its the flowery polyp thing u see on acro frags
The best research is asking people with experience and just trial and error on your part. Every tank is different in terms of what works for them respectively. As long as parameters are in range (which is a wide range) and relatively consistent you're good. Almost all lighting options these days will suffice to at a minimum keep acros alive. The info you seek can be daunting to navigate, especially with little to no experience in keeping acros. Here's where ypu can research in one spot and learn years of information in one thread. Shane's highs and lows are all documented. You'll learn more in his tenuis hoarder thread than you will anywhere else faster.ye, but Im new, and Looking for a challenge lol, and idk why its sooo hard, its just do some manual labor each week, and test each week, like WAAAAT, why and how is that hard? yes, ik, imma get lazy after a while, BUT NO, I'm fully committed to this
Something isnt right there but it sounds like the tank was cycling once you introduced water. Doesnt that process consume alkalinity? Perhaps it did and you fell out of range of the test?Ok, here's a head scratcher. I have a small aio quarantine tank that I'll be using to QT coral. It's one of the innovative marine 10 gallon AIOs. It's been wet, mostly sitting there and getting RODI top offs for a couple months. I received a few items from POTO yesterday, and before using the QT I checked the parameters.
The alkalinity tested as 1.4! I tested again and it tested at 1.1! There's nothing but some bacteria and bioballs. I had dumped in some water from my display a couple months ago, but there's certainly nothing growing.
Any idea how that could happen?
