I'm going to try the sea salt, considering how much salt is now, I was getting buckets of Reef crystals last year for $25... Ugh...
I've read up on it a lot and I think it will work fine for my tanks. I can easily dose Ca and Mg too to match my parameters if needed.

Randy Holmes-Farley here on R2R is a firm believer in using plain instant ocean. Not paying extra for the vitamins, amino acids, and stuff in the more expensive salts.

I'll just stick with one brand. May give it a shot for $45. I do wc on my 180 and 65 1x/2 weeks, so may be worth the saving is it doesn't affect anything

I think the biggest thing no matter what is stability. Pick something and stick with it. Don't change and chase, especially if everything is looking good.

Constantly changing salts or trying new trace elements, or this or that, is just recipe for disaster. Just KEEP IT SIMPLE.

I decided to use red sea Blue bucket, and red sea alk, mag, and Cal and red sea trace. The stability is what matters, keeping it all the same. It doesn't matter the brand (to a point) it just matters you stick with one thing without constant changes.

Anyway, that's just my opinion on the subject lol

Agree 100 percent! I'm moving my small tank into my big tank soon so what better time to change salts. Personally, the residue on my tanks is what is leaning me away from RC.
