why not move the tv and do a longer tank? surely without the tv a 6ft 180 will fit there... also, that vent may be to your advantage, depending on how it is built the structure could actually be used to mount a floating canopy.
This exactly my thoughts on this...use that duct chase to your advantage and hang your lights and a floating canopy from it

Lights don't weigh much. Drywall anchors would work fine if you can't find the studs.
I think they left no space between the sheetrock and the vent so I would be able to drill into the rock (I haven't tested t his btw but just assuming from when I hung the door and had to rip the trim 1/2" before I would hit the vent

I might be able to find the studs just depends if they line up at all though

Off topic but that Roubo bench is a thing of beauty. Is that the Benchcrafted leg vise kit?
Thank you! You know old French Benches!

Yes it is BC leg and Wagon vice.

The bench is made from an Ash that I cut the tree down, milled to 10/4 wet, dried for 2 years then kiln finished.

you think it can support a canopy safely? the people who framed and rocked this downstairs before we bought did an awful job
I think it'll be fine, as B said, lights don't weigh that much. If you cant hit studs, you could use toggle bolts or zip-its to hold them. I don't think you'll have issue finding something to anchor to though

lol she doesnt know us but she is already going to hate us
That's what I'm saying.

@vittpsu21 6x2x2 gives you 180 gallon display. Essentially all of the equipment is the same size for that, as 120 gallon. It's at the top end but everything essentially transfers over. You'll likely need one additional light but both would run off the same sump, skimmer, return pump, maybe a few hundred extra watts of heat.

You get a lot more bang for your buck there.
