my guess is I will do the stand this weekend and see how I feel after about doing another DIY, woodworking is one thing have all the tools and do it daily anyway --- sump being all glass sounds less fun :p
Could go with plexi? I never built a tank or a sump. I seen a lot of sumps made from plexi. Do we even call it plexi still?

or is it acrylic?

I don't know any of it.

But, it's an option vs glass cutting.
Building a sump using an existing sized, readily available tank, You don't need to cut any glass.

Take your measurements off the tank, cut the acrylic - 1/4"

Route in water passage/weirs if desired, and silicone in place.

I'm not cutting anything, unless it's a steak!

I think my only other concern with DIY on this is if I mess up the flow but I guess that would be kinda hard anyway since its just compartments. Do you find that overflow is enough or buy acrylic that has flows in the middle of it is important?

ok you answered my above with th is, you ordered them offline already pre made... this makes a lot more sense
I did not order any of those baffles pre-made. @F i s h y was kind enough to cut them oversized from his acrylic hord and send them to me.

I used to half inch up spiral router bit to cut central flow. 1/4" spiral bit on the router table to cut the weir teeth on an adjustable baffle (pictures above) so that I can change the running water height in some.

I am leaning towards a 40g sump on the 120, so the size probably would be noticeably smaller than yours maybe, I guess I could however go bigger if I wanted and was DIY'ing it
Where are you located?

I run a 40 breeder sump with Fiji cube inserts under my 120. It's a great size. Doesn't leave a whole lot of room under the stand, but enough.

I am lucky that the laundry room (with easy access to water is right behind the wall of where I am placing this too) I already started to go through the drywall and cement behind and running the lines for the rodi and maybe one day ATO
