ProTip.. Don't go from the website. They never update it. Call them a week before you want to order. They will dive for what you need if they don't have it on hand.if you Wait for them to update the website. You'll be waiting forever.

Philip at KP is very helpful.
oh nice, thanks for this, I think I will just need to have mostly everything setup so I can cure in tank then before ordering this. Do the figures of 20/80 for a total of 100lbs for a 120 seem ok? or need more/less

Setting up a 120-130, I'd want at least 80 pounds total, 90 would leave you extra for the sump, as well as make it easier for aquascaping because you have more options of size and shape.

When ordering I requested a 50% of the rock, to be of the medium to small variety.

I forget, and I'm too lazy to look it up right now - where is kp located?

(I can 100% look it up later, I'm just waiting for food at a noodle bar right now)

I would go closer to 50% premium, 50% starter

ok so something like 18 lbs of premium and then the rest (say 80 lbs-- or do I need less?) of either dry or starter?)

seems like stock for them is pretty limited so I will have to keep an eye on the site, they have 3 lbs of premium available atm lol
It never stays in stock. if you're going with 120g tank. I would go with 40lbs premium for ascetics as well.

18lbs of premium, 40lbs of the starter, you can use base (dead)rocks for the live sand, if you go with live sand. Some just go bare.

I would go closer to 50% premium, 50% starter
This is a recipe for less issues.

Tavernier, FL is where they have their p.o box. all I saw on their website.

i loved the premium rock i got from them. i agree with asking for 50% or more as small to medium.

also agree with 50/50 premium to starter...

ok 50%/50% sounds reasonable, I do plan to go live sand, last time I think I ordered like ocean direct of BRS

so sounds like 40lbs of premium, 50 lbs starter

It's a much less of a headache, unless you plan on tearing your rocks apart to scrub because of algae.

I never mind doing that. It's kind of fun to me.

Edit: You wont get a lot of bad algae blooms going 50/50

I wouldn't say you need to have everything set up and ready to go, When you order. Once you have the tank and stand , You can put a heater and wave maker in the tank with the rock before plumbing is even done.

The longer you have to remove/ trap any unwanted hitchhikers, the more successful you will be.

I was planning to go in and order the tank today, think it takes a week to show up or what not, still trying to decide if I want to make the sump myself still

Florida live rock can come with pest crabs, eunicid worms, and fire worms. You dont want these staying. You probably know that already.

The keys, got it.

Torn between them and TB when the big tank gets set up. TB might be nice because I think I could avoid shipping all together

that would make it cheaper and that means more money for corals and fishies

my guess is I will do the stand this weekend and see how I feel after about doing another DIY, woodworking is one thing have all the tools and do it daily anyway --- sump being all glass sounds less fun :p
