For clarity, tank and stand?

If you could on your old stand, once you get the tank off, see if the tank bottom was fully supported by the stand. Take something straight that does not deflect, long level if you have one, and place it across at various points. See if it's touching at all points, no gaps. Especially across the front.

Curious if it's not, causing the tank bottom to deflect and cause the sepertion that is being seen on these tanks.

Thank you
Yes, they’re supposedly sending an entire new G2 set up. Tank, stand, Sump, ATO, etc.

I’ll evaluate the stand once I take the old tank off

Oh wow.. from the warranty replacements I usually see on these threads, it’s usually only the DT.

That’s a pretty good deal of they’re sending you a complete G2 setup. Good stuff man! Keep us updated with what happens.

I appreciate their warranty, and they've upped it to 5 years with registration

That's amazing and putting money where their mouth is

However, this is a G2 busting, so I won't be buying a G2. I just can't risk it, even if the tanks are beautiful.

Unfortunately for us, this is one of those hobbies where replacing the tank doesn't do much - considering the insane amount of work that goes into swapping a tank out with the scape/acclimation/re-seeding of microfauna etc.

The tank was a G1 & under warranty. It is getting replaced by a complete G2 tank/stand. Sorry if you are confused.

Day 3? Update:

Did another water change (2nd so far since transfer.) Haven't checked any parameters besides salinity & temp. Fish are eating fine. Have not got a shipping confirmation on the new tank from RS yet.

Everything looks great! I saw this thread and had to come take a peek to see how things were going. I admit I am a little disappointed that the old tank didn't end more sloppily but the happy coral in the pictures kind of makes up for the dramatic let down.

I hope things stay the course going forward on this unfortunate journey. Well done.

Your tank still looks great even in a bin!

Right now your corals are adding mass
Though the reef has been transferred, that doesn't mean shocked

Those polyps open and hungry aren't shocked, they like being in totally waste free, positive- feed water. What heterotrophic organism wouldn't flourish there

The reason it's uniquely positive here for your tank, vs harmful and some kind of shock, is because you can run a bunch of clean protein through this small system easily using the food in/ water change a day later boost. In your normal tank, this extra feed will fill up your sandbed, fill up the filter areas we are trained to use.

But in this tank, it's a throughput cpr holding facility, an action facility, gallons of water are being cycled through this reef a normal display tank will never see due to scale/ practicality

To combine extra feed pass through

For the weeks it'll be in this container, to make use of the very low_zero waste storage access of these holding tanks, means your reef is in a predator building bootcamp currently. It's going to emerge with a face tattoo, stronger than when it came in

Be creative in supporting some extra direct coral feed for the new design... keep up the work out even after final display tank setup if at all possible, or we risk sedentary atrophy loss over time.

My tank is less than 2 years old. Picked it up brand new from a LFS. The other day I noticed some sand getting in the seam of the front panel. If I touch this area of the glass a little more sand falls down into it.

What do you guys think? Anyone have any luck with Red Seas customer service? Do you think the LFS would help?

That is very unfortunate. Hope it all goes well.

Can you help investigate so we have clarity on this - went through your thread and it seems the tank you have now was a replacement 2 years ago for your original G1 tank. Did RedSea just say they’re giving a G2 or did you identify it was a G2 with the serial?

I ask because 2 years ago the G2 was freshly making the retail floors, and from what I’m aware of, they were still sending out G1 V3 tanks for the first few months for warranty replacements and suggesting the V3 was as good as the G2 (which was super sleazy).

This will help us all in investigating whether or not the G2 has solved the issues, or if the issues remain, because by all accounts, we still haven’t seen a G2 pop up? And yours would be the closest to the first one.

My original tank was a g1 v3. It lasted 2 years then the seam started to fail. The warranty covered a new glass aquarium G2 but not a g2 stand so I paid separately for the G2 stand. So the tank is a full G2 but still the same problem 2 years later. Almost tothe day, was October 2022 when I installed the new G2.

Day 7 update:

Did another 5gallon water change. Up to 3 WCs now since this all started. Everything’s chillin, no one/thing seems stressed (myself included.)

Haven't had time to rinse any sand or clean any rocks yet. Should be starting on that in the next few days.

Looks like the tanks in NJ, hopefully it’s here by the end of the week.

Check out the IM tanks. Eurobraced and custom looking acrylic sumps with aluminum T-slot stands. Also half the price (I’m not sure how).

IM doesn’t fit my space as well

Their sumps don’t have the brilliant dual chamber design either

Also based on recent comments I think Red Sea is back off the menu - it’s interesting though because many folks say it really was the massive design flaw of the overhanging front panel that is at issue and nothing else

It's still too early to say one way or another. This, by accounts of FB groups and threads dedicated to these red sea breaks, is the first time it's been a G2. For comparison, other tanks have fails too, and those aren't hard to find - so it's not at a rate out of the norm of others yet for the G2. Emphasis on "yet".

For example - IMs are rare to see breaks, but there's a member here (and has a decent Youtube following) that has had 2 different IM tanks (both replacements) leak within 6 months. I've seen many Waterbox tanks leak, as well as CADE. Even quite a few Crystal Dynamics Aquariums that have leaked (who are now out of business which make warranties null).

We'll see though. I think the best chances of avoiding leaks are still eurobracing and well built stand - that's my opinion though.

Appreciate everyone's quick responses. Hopefully red sea is some help given the tank is less than 2 years old. If anyone has a support phone number for them please send it my way. The one I found does not work.

I don't have anything to put the contents of the tank into at the moment. Maybe I will buy a small children's pool for the time being...

Get that tank empty ASAP.

Buy some Brute cans from the local hardware store. Kiddie pools are a great idea, but I don't know that you will find them now as they are seasonal.
