Must be image quality because in person it was very cartoonish.
I wish I could say that Flame looked cartoony but have you seen photos of Orion’s Flames?!

Well I was a groomsman at a big wedding this weekend and then had to go straight to a job site. Now I’ve suspiciously been added to a meeting about hurricane Idalia. Guess is I’ll be going down to the gulf sometime in the near future. Just hope I get some home time in between.

Some updates on this tank:
Was away for a week and unfortunately the ATO didn’t go off so my salinity was high. May be the last straw for my final goniopora though. Which is a shame as it was very bright and very expensive. Everything else is thriving and my alkalinity uptake is really high now. I ran out of AFR so I’m trying kalkwasser with some trace elements.
My test results despite a long time without a WC are:
Alk - 8.1
Nitrate - 0.2
Phosphate - 0.05
Which I’m fairly happy with though i am now dosing nitrate.

As for corals I decided that since my Goni garden dream is gone I’ll go for something equally cool and move my torches over.

The dragons soul unfortunately fell off on first attempt so it’s a bit ticked off after the move:

Finally my mangrove is growing!!

I have some chaeto that lived in jars on a shelf in my fish room for 7 months with only ambient light and a water change every couple of months. When I got my Janss pipefish in July I finally took the chaeto out of the jars and added it to their tank ... the chaeto was still bright green and smelled fresh. Crazy how hardy that stuff is.

Missed this but I believe you are right. It was sold a bluehead but I think they are wrong.
Blue heads are H. starckii but are fairly jumpy and love to be at the top of the tank.

So for me the one in the photo or a skunk?

I used to think tilefish were just big darters. Didn’t know they could be pretty round.

For which tank?

There’s a few good choices out there, just a couple would be;
Purpureus
Marcosi (I have this guy - nicknamed Marco)
Luteus
Fourmanoiri

Of those I really like the skunk though the purple would fill a color niche. I assumed it would have to be this tank but with the size of some of them I guess some may do well in the other tank with the low light.

In other news I got an old school hydrometer to test my salinity and it’s 1.0238 (yes it’s that accurate). I hate how unsure I am of my salinity and this doesn’t drift so needs no calibration.

I’m usually on team new tech but in this one case I’m all for the old school.

And I just broke it….
Literally decided to accompany this post with a photo and it slipped and the tip broke. :loudly-crying-face: :loudly-crying-face: :loudly-crying-face:

Uggh
Too soon
This will take a good 30-60minutes before I can laugh at my rediculously dumb error.

I guess I can recalibrate my refractometer though…
