It’d be a steal at twice the price!!

Biota also his this on their catalog, and then basically say their alive on arrival policy doesn’t apply to this fish and IIRC recommend you make arrangements for collection and delivery.

I mean my wife would freak for sure if I purchased one of these. She’d probably ride my butt for the rest of our lives. Rightly so probably. They are freaking amazing though!

WeeFunny how this site changes a** to “butt” automatically. I’m not sure a** is even a legitimate bad word anymore.
That’s exactly how you should view your wife’s threats. Buy a weedy sea dragon next year when they show up and see how quickly she decides that you made a good decision to spend your money (start saving up now) on such a cool fish.

I’ve technically got the money, but not the balls. You pretty much have to be a Russian oligarch to purchase a 10k fish and not get sh** from all your friends and family.

My LFS has a Gem tang at $400. That’s a fish I think is beautiful but I don’t really want to deal with it because it will get too big and I have to ask myself; “ What do I really need that fish for?” Yes it is cool but I can’t keep an entire ocean in my non-oligarch sized residential dwelling without having the aquarium services on staff to keep the fish and reefs all in tiptop condition.

Let me get your thoughts on a tang. I have a Cade 1800, so ~ 6 x 2 x 2.

I have an 8th month old mixed reef. Just a baby really. I like small fish and I plan on having a diverse array. The biggest fish I have right now are bimac anthias and a red head solon fairy wrasse. Lots of other fairly cryptic peaceful small fish in there. Shrimps, sh** too. I’ll list them later. Just got a leopard wrasse too. I’ll probably get two more of those.

I have intentionally stayed away from tangs, angels, butterflies, etc. I don’t like the big fish in little tank look and I worry about the fishes well being and general happiness. I have a lot of rock I’m my tank, but it is all very negative aquascape. Hopefully, my coral nubs will take flight too, but that will further limit my free swimming space.

The question: I have talked myself into considering a purple tang at the lfs tomorrow. It’s either that or the 2 leopards. I’d be nice to have one active swimmer with all the benthic dwellers I have. I don’t know, talk me down from the tang please.

3 bimaculatus Anthias
Red head Solon fairy wrasse
Blue leg hermits, snails, multi shrimp
Scooter blenny
Lawnmower
Purple and helfrichi firefish
Midas blenny
Royal gramma

Is the purple tang going to eat the super tiny feather dusters that came in on my live rocks? I don’t think so, but they are small. They don’t eat sponges right? I can look it up. He can have and will have whatever macro algae, that’s fine by me.
