What do you think about R2R offering FREE learning modules and certificates on certain reefing topics?

Is it worth it for us to think about creating learning modules where members read and learn about certain reefing topics and when complete receive a certificate?

I think it could be a fun way for people to learn about certain aspects of the hobby, or maybe a way of brushing up on topics that might seem difficult to learn. Would it just be for more "intro" aspects or cover a wide variety?

It's an interesting concept. Going through the hello reef videos right now, the idea is good, but I've found myself straying a bit a few weeks in, having previous SW experience.

Initially, I did go through the BRS videos a few years ago, but more of a pick and choose to fill in the gaps.

I think it depends on the person and what knowledge they are looking for. I know the other issue I run into is time. Sometimes I just need a quick answer and end up having to scroll through a 10 min video just to find the 15 seconds where they say it's this size wrench, etc.

That would be cool. Certificate as in a physical certificate or a badge?

I think this could be of great benefit to some. Keeping it unbiased, and free from marketing influence would be a breath of fresh air. Keeping the modules closed for commenting would probably be necessary (if there’s a real issue with something one could message in private) otherwise mayhem will ensue I’m sure. I don’t know about certs but maybe some would be interested. Might have to tie points or something in for motivation. Some sort of structure would be beneficial as opposed to randomness. Good luck

I think it's a GREAT idea and could potentially bring some new members to the group now and ongoing.

I'd love to help in any way needed (editing/proofing, testing, etc etc). @revhtree hit me up if I can be of any assistance.

Yes to modules, no to badges. I think it will become your thought or idea is garbage if you don't have a badge.

JK about the badges. I wouldnt want a badge but maybe a link to the certificates you have completed in your profile? That way if someone has a question of your ability to give a good answer to an issue they can see at least you've completed the course.....idk
