Splurge! If you were given $1,000 to spend on reef equipment, what item(s) would you put it toward?

The holidays are over and we’ll have to wait until next year for more presents, but what if we could still dream a little longer…what if you could spend $1,000 on reefing equipment? What item(s) would you put the money toward? Would it be a controller, lights, pumps, reactor, skimmer, testing machine, or something else? Let’s dream a little and discuss what a $1,000 splurge would be – please join us in the discussion thread!

BTW, while we aren’t currently giving away $1,000, R2R is hosting a giveaway for a Deltec Skimmer so please following this link to enter! Good luck!!!

I guess ive been doing this too long as I have most everything I need.
IF there is anything I would consider, perhaps a different calcium reactor or a larger Generator in case of power outage as I found out a couple of months ago - Generator is a must in Florida

I'd buy a small<5 gallon tank and full set-up. Just for a few frags, snails and crabs.
After a close family member passed last year, I had to up and move suddenly to care for a surviving relative. Literally gave away about $2700 in fish and frags because I couldn't move them. Lucky guy on my local reef forum got everything. I kept my tank, but as soon as I moved, a corner cracked. Now I'm just on here dreaming again.lol. This was my tank about a year ago

I appreciate that, I'll get back with you. It'll be a minute before I can buy anything at this moment because I bought 9 acropora this past week
The Profilux 4 isn't for sale. I was just giving an example of how you can spend just a little more and have a controller off marketplace

Well, already planning upgrade and since my wife recently said she'd love to see a 120gal reef in the living room - I'm thinking that $1000 needs to go towards a nice weekend getaway for her being pretty dang terrific!
Do what I did with my wife, talk her into a 150. It’s only 6 more inches. Lol.

Where is your place, what city ? We lost power twice . 15 hrs the first time 4 hrs the second . Made it through without cranking up the generator as it was overcast with a breeze . Tank made it with a back up battery just operating a MP 40 and battery operated bait fish bubblers in the sump . Fortunately for us we’re higher up than the rest of the street . Neighbors the next street over had water a couple feet up their front door . A lot of people throwing out carpets and furniture days, weeks after .

Doral

Water damage is the major portion. 3" of water but enough to lift iles and start of mold
