Love my old Tek Lights...it's a T5 for you young ones LOL. It's 48" and my tank is 36". I have had them this way for 5 years. I'd like to get the ATI non-dimmable 36" T5 or better yet a 48" tank :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

$1,000 is nothing in this hobby. I just blew through $600 on supplies for the next 3-4 months.

If I were given $1,000 towards anything I wanted in aquariums, that would be enough for me to start my new Saltwater Nano Aquarium. I would go for a 29 gal tank with live rock & live sand and I would make it a fish only tank to start. I would also get an RODI system, a HOB skimmer, a filter and some of the essentials needed for monitoring my water parameters.

I'm pretty happy with my equipment. I'd probably replace my Bubble Magnus Curve 7 with a Reef Octo 150 Recirculating External skimmer and add a second Versa Dosing pump. With the rest, I'd buy live rock and corals.

The Bubble Magnus is just to hard to set and overflows easily. I had an old NWS150 Recirculating skimmer that was bulletproof. After over 20 years its pump finally died. That's when I found out the OTP pump was obsolete. I have a Ecotech Versa Dosing pump that I use for All for Reef. I really like that pump. It is small, accurate, doses a little or a lot, and is quiet. I'd dose a little extra calcium, magnesium, and iodine with a second one to make up what the AFR doesn't or maybe dose vinegar automatically. Beyond that, I can't think of anything that would make the tank run better than more live rock and corals!

Splurge! If you were given $1,000 to spend on reef equipment, what item(s) would you put it toward?

The holidays are over and we’ll have to wait until next year for more presents, but what if we could still dream a little longer…what if you could spend $1,000 on reefing equipment? What item(s) would you put the money toward? Would it be a controller, lights, pumps, reactor, skimmer, testing machine, or something else? Let’s dream a little and discuss what a $1,000 splurge would be – please join us in the discussion thread!

BTW, while we aren’t currently giving away $1,000, R2R is hosting a giveaway for a Deltec Skimmer so please following this link to enter! Good luck!!!

Something to end the Dino rampage going on in my tank.... I accidently crashed my reef and im trying to win it back. I would probably spend all $1k on new live rock from either the ocean or a LFS.

I've lost a lot of coral. Nems, Clams, Fish are all fine though :)
