Like skipping a stone?
times stone GIF

I only caught him hovering over them, never actually saw the nip.
Exactly like that lol! Mine in occasion latches on to a coral while its sleeping but other than that he hangs near rockwork or roams around in open water. Well, what open water i have in my tank anyway lol

I will say, I'm probably on a hold for coral for a bit. New tank, need to get gear, cycled, and then I'm probably going to be a fish person for a bit.

Off hand, I mentioned it already but I'm for sure getting a pair of flashing tile fish. I haven't committed mentally to anything else, but I feel like I want a few more rare/collector fish.

I'm surprised that collectors bug hasn't hit you @wes84 . I think I want a borbonias anthias, maybe a pair of Watanabe angelfish. I'm not going to go for a gem tang because I hear they are jerks, but there are a ton of beautiful fish to collect.
lol I had a borbonias for several months but i think it died because my tank got hot (83) over the summer. I currently have a gem tang. If i had room i would have a pair of Watanabe angelfish. Would also like a CB golden angelfish but again, no room and i also have the CB regal and a flameangel already. Also eyeballed the kingi angelfish but my tank is too small for one.

When are you going to upgrade? Things can't live on the catwalk forever.

I can't believe we don't have any regulars on the group that aren't fish addicts when it comes to some more exotic stocking choices. Shocks me @Thuan isn't more of a fish fan too.

Rarer/exotic fish I want (not sure that I'll get them) is a pair of hellfreichi dart fish. I just honestly don't know if they go with tile fish since they are similarly shaped. Borbonias anthias as I mentioned, Watanabe angelfish, I'd love a swissguard basslet too but I'm committed to an assessor basslet since they swim sideways and upside down so I don't know if they will go together, Ive been very interested in garden eels, I want a three spot high hat fish, curious wormfish if I can get one, fingered dragonet, and I don't know what is really a rare tang other than stupid ridiculous things like aberrant tangs.
When i get my big tank im planning to create a section with rocks where i can put about 8” deep sand and get some spotted and black ribbon garden eels. Load up the rocks retaining the sand with some encrusters and LPS with a big arch that goes across the sand bed with acros on it so it sort of shaded the eel bed

They are already encrusting on the egg crate. Im going to start making rockwork to get the acros on the rockwork soon. Its going to be a process and very difficult trying to fit all the frags on rockwork in my 30x30x30 tank lol. The bigger tank isnt coming till after the wedding in may at least.

Sixline and springeri damsel seem to do the trick. I'm actually on the fence about a school of springeri in a larger build. Originally I heard they school, reading more about them they don't. I really want a shoaling fish. Reading more it seems like evansi anthias shoal together.
Dispars or purple queens. I want to have a shoal of purple queens when i get a bigger tank.

What happened?
I think my worst mistake was doing a big water change and taking my time to do it... Left a lot of the SPS on top level out of water way too long so I think I basically dried out a bunch accidentally... As far as I can tell that was main reason... Smaller contributions as well

Looking to get a lot of nudis. The only place is Saltyunderground. Size is only .25 and a bit larger
I've gotten from Dinkins - they usually add a few extras in theirs. May be able to contact them and see if they can give you a discount on a bulk number assuming they have enough.

I don't think it was them being out of water, even for a really long time. Corals are fairly adapted to that, what I think it is the coral being exposed to insanely high par. I've burned a Blasto and a couple LPs doing maintenance and not thinking and setting them on the lid of the tank. With my par meter, without water as a buffer the par is like 1500. I think it burns the coral with just light shock. I turn off my lights now when I do a water change if I know I'm going to be tinkering around a lot.

Well I think I’m moving my problem children clowns into the 22 unless I want to take a chance on things when I change tanks under the supposition that they’ll have to rediscover things. If I do I’ll have rename them. Like 7 of 9 for the female and 3rd of 5 for the male. We’ll see. My wife likes the clowns so I might be stuck with them in the bigger display tho.

Right now a six line and that's it. Our ornate leopard wrasse jumped to a few weeks ago. I think our lieutenant tang is starting to bully some I think. He's starting to outgrow the 90 since we have so much rock work.

I want to get one of the white leopard wrasse like @steveschuerger has.
I hear hanging a small mirror on one end of the tank can help alleviate some aggression in Tangs. I've never tried it though, so can't speak from experience.

I've kept a lot of FW fish over the years, some more exotic, but corals and SW was new and exciting. So many fish are not reef safe, or I just don't have room for them.

I have thought about multiple tanks, maybe a FOWLR, I still like corals though, so it's a compromise.

Garden eels are cool, but then mixing fish, what's safe together and what's not.

Besides, I haven't heard of a successful fish fragging yet. :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
I had this conversation with my old boss yesterday! He was asking what "cool" fish he should get for his new 32! All I could come up with was Molly Miller, Springeri Damsel, Springeri Dottyback, Court Jester or Hector's Goby, Clown Goby, and a Yasha Haza/Randall's Shrimp combo...

Too many horror stories about six lines, but in a larger tank I think the issues wouldn't exist.

I've read that about springeri too, yes/no, also that they will find a small area and simply claim it from there others. Might be a spawning thing. Maybe toss 6 in and see how it goes. They are cheap and colorful little fish, and you can find out for yourself.
I had a six-line in my 75 (36"*18"*24") back maybe 10 years ago. My clowns used to bully him.

All good suggestions. Maybe one small fairy wrasse like a mccosker, or a possum wrasse. Royal Gramma are a staple, long nose hawkfish, depending on stocking of coral he could get a Croucher goby of any color.

I could handfeed my foxface...need to get another one. For Reefs I'm all about utility in fish. Steve's leopard is nice
That's why a Halichoeres and Springeri a good addition. They help keep the pest populations down.

Well my next purchases are going to include another Macropharyngodon species , most likely a Black and maybe another smaller tang or another wrasse with Anampses species being a possibility
I'm looking for a Red-Lined Halichoeres....

I mentioned the Springeri Dottyback but didn't think about the Royal Gramma. I'll pass that along as a possible "last fish to add".

Coral is what he's wanting and it's a small tank.
