@billyocean
Any idea on this chunk? It was a mystery and labeled color .... the frag plug was cracked so the rest of the name is gone. Looks like it has been fragged a a few times. Nice clean cuts.. will try to get a better pic later.

.
If it was from last sale it could be Color Change. Here is mine and the sales pic. Polyps are more red in person but haven’t yet figured out how to get the cameras to capture the reds. Could also be Cloud 9 which is similar. Hard to tell for sure. I’d love to know what Shane does to the frags to crack so many plugs!

Since I’m trying to be more cost conscious , I started to look at ways to get best bang for the buck with dosing. Picked this up at Saltwater Aquarium. Since I already use AquaForest Reef salt figured it would meld well. 3 5 liter bottles for 63 bucks. Alk, Ca, and Mag with a few extra trace elements

Also picked up this for trace elements

Bro $30 in mrs wages pickling lime makes over a years worth of alk/ca. Magnesium sulfate/chloride $20 makes 1-2 years of mag.

One of our LFS has had 2 sets of the 3 part on sale for a few months for $30. I keep forgetting about them until I see something like this.

I think when I start dosing I am going to use one of the DIY mixes from the resident R2R chemist

Ok, maybe I’ll give Randy’s recipe a go after I use this up. But I’m lazy and even simple chemistry makes my head hurt. But thanks for the heads up

Its more just out of principle how cheap the components are. Youre paying mostly for water and shipping of said water. A 1 liter measuring cup and magnetic stirrer will take you a long way at saving a boatload of money.

Asd has a sale with afterparty. Some nice gonis very good price
Mmm…I’m done buying coral for at least a few months. Want to start growing out the Gonis I just got. Looked at the ASD sale. Not really exciting me for some reason in any case.

If you want a no chemistry version I would probably go with the bionic system
