Lowering raising numbers is killing Dino pop building bacteria pop.

Uv DE filter speeds everything up in resolution. Cheapest method is diatomaceous earth filter. You’ll basically filter them out and repeat till pop under control.

Nuking your tank for all the problems is feeding the algae to cause it to outcompete the Dino’s . It will become unsightly but once done you stop feeding and remove the rocks hard brush clean place back. Then you let nitrate phosphate settle and get you big 3 to balance. Then you rock n roll !

For the coral livestock you’ll need another small tank with a cleaned rock from your tank and frag holder/light diffuser. Then you’ll put back in your display. Normally you wouldn’t have ordered a 1k coral order but life happens.
Okay. Yeah I’m not prepared to nuke. I understand it may be difficult to fight dinos but it’s a journey and another learning opportunity. The population isn’t that out of control yet. It is growing but I can keep up on cleaning, for now. It sounds to me heavy good bacteria dosing may be what I need to kick start this?

It is exponential in growth, it will smother algae to kill feed on it.

Bacteria is needed in any way you go about it.

Your tank will be so strong and resilient if you let it just run its course naturally. All things show up and leave after a time period. They willl always be present but controlled due to biodiversity.

It’s just time and the stress of that order you have coming in . Might need to find a reefing buddy to hold onto them for you till your tank is back in order.

When my tank crashed after I moved I didn’t touch it for almost 2 years - the tank had been up for almost 2 yrs prior to the move. My Sherman BTAs thrived lol when I started adding stuff my tank really didn’t even notice…..I credit this to the tank doing its thing without my intervention. Now I try to minimize what I do

Okay, sounds like end of the day I need to ride it out and just deal with my dinos and ugly stages with less intervention. Keeping the tank from bottoming out and add good bacteria. Also read that my weekly water changes I should stop as it may be giving more fresh fuel to the dinos too.

Yea from I remember the fuel that they use can’t be pinpointed. It’s why starving them out never was an option. Water changes seem to give them burst of energy. I think it’s because fresh real estate in the water.

There is a cool multi page read about Dino’s here on R2R with this guy twillard and what a group tried to do to solve the Dino problem.

@wjm6449 theres a Facebook group called Mack Dinos or something too…

It’s how I learned my Dino’s were the sand living kind and best way to beat them (besides bringing my nitrates and phosphates up) was filter the sand and water through a 5micron filter. Then I returned the water to the tank. Cleaned the sand - baked it dry and added it back to the tank.

I like it that left ledge is fire looks so good!
I want to build the left side up. But plan to use stuff that’s currently in my 75 sooo it will have to wait till the new tank is up and running.

Best advice ever and true across so many tanks including mine. It’s almost like all reef tanks need a zero F’s given period of a year where it’s “neglected” left alone and then it’s primed for supporting your reef.

iPhone pro max 12 - yellow and brown filter stacked.

No adjustments were made to those photos :)
I have a 13 pro so I should be able to do something similar. I will mess with it. You are using physical filters right? I’ll look for a couple.
