Did you say you had/have a hippo tang that is nipping at corals?

I have a blasto and a lobo that have started to go down after adding a hippo. She is tiny but I wonder if she may be a contributing factor.
Only Tang is tomini

I suspect my damsel. He’s nipped gonis when he was new to the tank and then stopped. I don’t think anyone else would do it

I’ve had angels in the past and a ora filefish that were confirmed coral nippers/killers

Also pajama cardinals. 2 of them both lps nippers.

I was the hippo.

Got rid of a big hippo for nipping. The smaller one immediately nipped all SPS. Since they swim higher in the column they may just be taling slime from sps to make slime coat for themselves. But now its mauling LPS so its coming out. Theyre known nippers.

I did not know that about the hippo. I will keep an eye on her.

Thank you for the information.

I saw a couple of these for sale on r2r not long ago. They bomb your tank if they die I think?
Looks like they have toxins used as a detergent from predations but nothing major that would nuke a tank. Most of the info I can find about them releasing toxins at death is old and out of date info.

I heard the same thing about bubble tips , and sea hares. I have had both die and no issues.

Yeah, I don't take too much stock in it but I recall the girl selling them having some warnings as well. I'm sure it would be just fine for anyone with anything above 20g regardless.

Could also depend on how big it was before death. Some colonies can get pretty big.
