I still think Randy is talking about a preventative measure for Dino’s. You need to make the tank ugly with diatoms before the Dino’s go away. Then stop dosing the silicates and the diatoms go away.The original claim of growing diatoms to outcompete Dino’s is actually what caught my attention and sent me to that article. I’m going to give it a few more days and then I’ll switch to the water glass if I’m not seeing any improvement. I was worried about dosing too much silicate but it sounds like you were dosing quite a bit and didn’t have any issues. If I don’t see any changes, I will order some water glass and increase dosing as you did. Thanks!
@woodyarmadillo That waterglass needs to be shaken with tank water before dumped in the tank. You can see even the SpongeExcel drops don’t dilute extremely quick.

I think I’ll keep using spongexcel for a bit since I have it on hand, but I’ll start dosing how you were in your treatment. It really isn’t that much product in my nano. 2 ppm would be about 3 droppers full and then probably 1 dropper full everyday for .5 to 1 ppm. Bottle would probably last 2-3 months dosing like that daily.

Perfect. I would do the same, may as well use it up. I’d still suggest to put the drops in very high flow or shake them up a bit before dumping in.

Is it completely white already? My Crayola Madness started to TN at one of the tips. I cut that tip off and then the TN stopped and it has healed over the cut... It took forever to heal over the cut. Speciosa seem to be super slow growers.

I didn't change a thing. The alk was a little low but wasn't that low, and I slowly raised back up. I guess it's just one of those things

I Always think that too. I have noticed there's an area with less flow in my tank that I need to add another pump to.
