It turns back to white if left too long. pH is the dead giveaway. I try to rotate it when i first start seeing purple to ensure channeling doesnt inefficiently waste media. Not sure if its effective.question to co2 scrubber users: does the media turn completely white when exhausted or just less pink?
Mine was a rock boring urchin too, it too was just a tinny thing at first. But he was good about leaving corals alone and never knocked anything ovet.Urchins are weird, I have one that will devour nori and another that won't touch it.

The best urchin I have came as a hitchhiker also, it was the size of a pinhead in the beginning, a Rock boring urchin. Doesn't wear frags but will overturn them for cleaning.
i had an urchin before everything went to heck and that little jerk was OBSESSED with one of my torches, like would not leave it alone. i would catch him trying to grab it, pick him up and move him to the other side of the tank and he would instantly start beelining for the torch again.Mine was a rock boring urchin too, it too was just a tinny thing at first. But he was good about leaving corals alone and never knocked anything ovet.
