kind of looks like the rock is still maturing. Hard to tell from the pics.

The rocks are 13 months old... the corraline is patchy but getting theres I scrape and seed it weekly.

Bad storm here on the reef today... kicked everything up. Came outta nowhere too.. good thing I dosed some Aminos and fatty acids a half hour before it hit and cranked up the flow.

;) autofeeding.

Yeah 13 months is good, I'm not sure what you started with but if dry they could easily still be maturing.

Rocks mature very slowly.

Just trying to toss something out there for the algae issue

For sure. I appreciate all input. It all helps. Yes the rock was dry. I just need to keep blowing it off and changing the sock until the corraline grabs hold and then itll be clear sailing I hope.

Also, i added a big bag of pods, iso and nano phyto from @Paul C. @ aquarium cuisine. Hopefully I can get a thriving population of pods to establish in the refugium and their detritus eating machines in big numbers once they mature.

Hopefully in time that will help as well.

I am seriously considering "fasting" the tank once every 7-10 days to see if that helps as well. I feel the nori sheets every day are making my tangs and foxface lazy. I need them to be picking at the rocks constantly. Maybe reducing their nori intake will force them to graze more as well.

We shall see.

Agree with @count krunk on the rocks. Mine are about as old as yours and FINALLY starting to mature and see signs of Coraline...and cyano and gha and....:D

That's enough for today. I'll test tomorrow and let all the nasties clear from the water first. I'd hate to see what po4 looks like right now :D

So I did an easy little DIY project to convert one of my 5g Weco container caps into a "gas-can" type filling tube last week. Thought I would share it in action... man it makes my life so much easier...

At least until I can set up an auto-rodi-pump and line to do it for me.

Heres the video...

Hopefully I'll get to paint the sump door edges and the Tank Trim border is going black all black as well... already got the paint and materials. Gotta cover the tank before I put some #elbowgrease and 180grit to work to give the paint something to grab onto.

Thanks bud.. it's called the "Auto TopperOff Filler 9000" ;Hilarious

I'll tag u in the DIY forum where I posted the step by step how-to. It's a super simple and cheap project for those who cant afford all the bells and whistles. ;)
