In the mean time Red Sea acknowledged the issue and upon advice from its customers, they have identified a solution to both repair existing leaks and prevent future ones. Simply buy this repair/upgrade kit and rest easy again!

Yeah that was on my failure thread. The pictures from the OP don't look anywhere near to showing signs of failure. But as I learned you MUST keep Red Sea in the loop with pictures when you think failure is starting. I was at the 3+ year mark and had done that so when it DID fail they responded quickly. The tank design is terrible, no doubt and you'll have to really go easy with the seals. However I can't complain about Red Sea's response as they sent me an ENTIRE new G2+ setup at zero cost.

While I personally can’t fathom not researching just about anything I purchase, I think most people just trust the marketing and certainly the popularity of most things.

Be they fish tanks, cars, toothbrushes or underwear.

Not exactly accurate. The only difference between mine that just failed and this G2+ is the sides are 1/4 thicker and it has side return outlets. Otherwise everything else is the same.

If a seal starts leaking you are compressing it back together. I went right on the glass at the top and bottom corners and compressed the seal back together.

If a seam starts leaking, squeezing it back together is not going to stop the leak. It may slow it but trying to squeeze it runs the risk of catastrophic failure instead of a leak. You would still want very little pressure to prevent further delamination and to simply buy time. The tank has already failed and messing around with pressure points may easily make it worse.

Th front pane separating at the bottom is the most common Red Sea fail by a long shot. That has been “solved.” All tanks from every manufacturer can have failures, so it is tough to say solved completely. But the design flaw of floating front glass was solved from everything I’ve seen. The new stands are much better built. There is lip that now supports the front glass. Etc. Many of the new, larger Red Sea tanks are eurobraced IIRC. Eurobracing should be standard on larger tanks IMO from all manufacturers.

Red sea tanks are hot garbage. No idea why people are buying these tanks after watching them fail over and over again.. People that buy them must be living that anxiety adrenaline rush lifestyle. Waterbox and IM both better quality. Make better choices.

Yours at this point does that look bad but I know red sea has problems with there bottom seams blowing out I would never buy a mass produce aquarium I have been in the hobby for 22 years and only buy from one custom aquarium builder Exotic Aquariums they have been in business for 30 years They sold there retail store and they are just building custom aquariums one at a time they pay very close to detail they go under Tropic Aquarium mfg Bob and Karen

They built the sump for my old 90gal that I used to have. It's a shame about the retail store. I was out of the hobby for several years. I came back and my old LFS is under new management and a shadow of it's former self. Karen was always super nice.

I'm explaining exactly what happened and what I did. The tank held together for weeks until the new one arrived and was set up.

The front pane separated at the top right corner and proceeded to split downward. A tight clamp stopped the leak and it held for weeks. Not sure what front supporting "lip" on the front glass you speak of. My "new" full replacement setup from Red Sea G2+425 has no front lip and is floating.

I thought it was a Gen1 v3? I know you said the only difference was the color of the pipes, but just asking for clarification.

She told me the one that failed was actually a G2 (with a prior version label) with reinforced corners. What I can tell you is compared to a G2+ it had one central return port and all the glass was equal thickness. The rest is the same.

Aim I the only one to suspect the light line in the picture is reflection from the edge of the glass ? Have you checked it lights out . Aquarium lights out and room lights out and use a flashlight? I didn’t read every post on this thread but it seems like it’s worth checking out.
