Picspam of some of the fish.

First up is Atlas, and his loaner lady. Today is day two of him holding. That’s a big deal as he usually swallows a few hours later. Here’s a pic of his girl and then a couple of them spawning. You can see his buccal pouch is quite full. Hoping for some macs❤️

Reef tank spam, the flaming Borthole, Duncan, and a couple of the fishes. The dottyback is a real clown. She likes to dump mouthfuls of sand on the goby lol.

This “shelf” here needs something and I have no idea what would be good there. Ideas?

Lastly Sienna because she’s pretty and Tophs setup with her new light.

And that’s it. I really needed to do stuff this weekend but this craps kicking my butt.

I started my steroids today and the Med that’s supposed to help with coughing doesn’t last quite as long as it should.
Monti Cap for the shelf?

I almost bought a couple of new Bettas yesterday. Petco has a Baby Boy for $2.99. He's a pretty metallic green crown tail. They also had a red/white/blue double tail delta tail female listed as an Assorted Female for $3.99. I don't have any available tank space at the moment.

Couldn’t say no to that. Local and cheap?

Hoping to have an alien boy for my birthday, and the Crystal tank (by SerpaDesigns) is my inspo for the scape. Though I’ll probably not be completely filled up.

I just need… everything lol.

$40 in birfday monies so far. Whoo!

Now to actually locate the fish.

And then see if Hubbs will have enough for some scape stuff. I may can talk him out of some hermies or snails for the reef too.

I saw Sams club had bonsais. I thought that may be a super cool thing to have popping out the back of the tank. I’d have to research.

Also I need a light. I’m really liking this Reefbreeders pico, except the power supply whines sometimes. Seems when it goes into the “moonlight” mode and the little light is blinking on the timer it’ll get louder when the light doesn’t beep haha. It’s hard to explain. I loved the power supply to other outlets to be sure it was not overloading where it was and it’s the power supply itself not the outlet.

Still though, I love how bright it could get and I bet it would be a great one over the cube.

Also, of course I’m taking macro pics of the beggers. Funny how all three are almost in the same pose when they want food.

Yo #Cronies,

When’s the best time of day to test params? Especially alk?

Tested yesterday about two ish hours before lights off, was 96 ppm. This am right after lights on was 107ppm. Still pretty low. But last night when the lights went off I tossed some baking soda water in to help a little. I’m sure that’s a large part of my coral issues.

When’s the best time to dose the baking soda? And from reading ish o think that this will also help my extreme nitrates?

I think staying consistent with the time you test is also really important. Pick a time of day that you know will work for you regularly, and do it then. :)

This advice was given to me by someone who knows way more than I do. ;)
That sounds like a good plan. :)

So, should I look into an auto doser? Would that be a good thing to have?

Someone mentioned all for reef to dose, but that seems pricy. Thoughts?

Halp lol.
If your only issue is Alk I'd just stick with the baking soda. That's what I use on my Biocube. I like the price :)

Once you get ALK where you want. Test every day for a week to see what your consumption is. Then you can determine how much you need to add each day to keep you on target :)

Awesome! I am running high
Nitrates but I’ve read that may be because the alk is low so idk. I don’t have a cal or mag test yet so no idea on those. But will work with the baking soda.

I rarely dose alk and calcium because I'm still a horrible person and use tap water for my ATO.... I only dose phosphates and vinegar.
Lol I’ve thought of doing the same, ngl

I dose Kalkwasser (pickling lime in solution) and it does both Ca and Alk.
you can mix it in a big bucket with RODI and just leave it next to your tank. dose it every hour.
I do 100ml / hr.
reduces how much you need to refill your ATO.

I’m not home enough to dose hourly :( so I’d have to get a doser.

Maaaaaaacroooooooooos

I have them mostly in the box because I’m still blah and don’t want to hunt spots. The ones that’s planted are also just to allow the others in the box to get some lights.

Come on babies, help the tank look purdy ❤️
