Might buy a Gen 5 from someone one here. Was used for a year at 35%. He wants 400...seems fair.Yes, Gen 4's (the best...gen) They are affordable and in some ways superior to later ones. Also the Blades are amazing for coral growth.

Just found these for the same price...Yes, Gen 4's (the best...gen) They are affordable and in some ways superior to later ones. Also the Blades are amazing for coral growth.
That’s a tough choice, if you are going to mount them not super high, then go with the five. If both conditions are the same. There are upgrade kit for the 6 and the boards that people have leftover from upgrading.Just found these for the same price...

Forgot the limesThe plant that only produces one flower at a time
And limes looking ready! They only grow at the bottom of the tree. Guess that makes them easy pickings ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
LIL salt ,tequila, ready to go...Forgot the limes
Need a salt plant. That would be useful on so many levels.LIL salt ,tequila, ready to go...
I wonder if those are root stock limes rather than the actual purchased tree limes? Do they look like they're above the graft?Forgot the limes
There are at least 3 parts of this post that I don't understand. FYI, I'm not a herbologist or plantologist or whatever, and I didn't plant the lime tree. The extend of my plant knowledge is that they need light and water and look pretty (coincidentally, also the majority of my coral knowledge!).I wonder if those are root stock limes rather than the actual purchased tree limes? Do they look like they're above the graft?
Wow, I had no idea. I'll take a closer look at the tree when I get home. Would make sense to get some of these fruit trees growing in California soil.So the bottom of your tree is likely different than the top of your tree.
Most tree nurseries use a different, more hardy variety of citrus for the root portion of the tree. They cut that tree off of the roots just above ground. Then, they'll take the variety with better fruit and graft it into that root stock. The result is that the tree grows better because it has stronger roots that bring in more nutrients and water and the top tree, like a parasite, will take those nutrients and water and use them for the fruit.
They also create Fruit Party or Fruit Salad trees the same way but they graft multiple trees into one root stock.
Sometimes the trunk is the root stock, sometimes it's a ball right above the ground.
Awesome, something new every day!The graft is most likely in one of the two red circles. If the branches are growing below the top red circle, there's a likelihood that they are the root stock and not the tree. Usually they'll use a lemon variety for the root.
Easiest way to tell is, if you have a good nose for this stuff, take a leaf from one of the upper branches and take a leaf from the fruited branch and break them. If they smell the same, it's probably the same tree. If they smell different it's probably the rootstock fruiting.
Lemons and limes smell similar so it may not work, but it might! The leaf should smell very close to how the fruit will taste
The IM lids are definitely thicker and stronger than the typical screen door kits, which I currently have. I don't much like how it sags a bit, but it's doing the trick so far with no jumpers making it through (knock on driftwood). I'll have a look at the DD just in case it fits my fancy.I was looking at the IM kit but realized they didn't go past 48" long. So I'm getting the DD Jumpguard mesh lid kit instead. Very similar aluminum frame type lids. The IM one looks thicker and stronger.
Also working on lids. Tank lid, cryptic refugium lid, and now a lid for the overflow since I broke the one that came with the tank.Goals for the week:
1. Clean glass 1/3rd done (qt tank cleaned)
2. Test alk
3. Start dropping salinity for hypo preventive treatment in QT tank
4. Start making salt water and getting buckets ready for tank transfer in Sept/Oct Made 5 gal so far, 5 gal going tomorrow. Prob need about 100g for the transfer.
5. Continue light mounting design Ain't cheap!
6. Order control board parts Ordered!
Easy mode this week. I got a lot of writing to do.
