UPGRADE. UPGRADE. UPGRADE.
A Series Of Unfortunate Events Nero GIF by NETFLIX
It's coming! I just don't have the time right now. Tank/sump/stand/plumbing/hydros/pump/powerhead all ready.

Still to do: light mount, screen lid, control board, extra support bar in stand, extra support base (glass or acrylic 1/2" - 1" sheet beneath tank), possibly bottom eurobracing?, galvanized steel pan for under tank, add 4" weir wall to sump for refugium section, rinse/seed sand, seed new rock, make lots and lots of saltwater, buckets and buckets for tank transfer day, omg why am I doing this?

Control board design, compliments of yours truly.

Plastic pegboard 22"x18"x1/8" 2-pack

Connect the two boards with M3 60mm (~2.36") standoffs.

Cable management with these etsy pegboard cable ties or something similar

Still working on brick management. Might just be zip tied inbetween the pegboards or maybe a pegboard basket/bin.

Hydros screws into pegboard.

Should slide in and out easily enough by grabbing and pulling a standoff.

Current costing: ~$65. Maybe find some cheaper mats. Cost more to get all aluminum/nylon for water resistance.

We'll see.

Plan for lid:
Screenshot_20240820-204536.png

Decided against the all polycarbonate lid. Looked so nice, but the heat in the office over the weekend is brutal. It's either an open screen lid or buy a chiller. I like the IM screen lids anyway. Will just trash their mesh and use the smaller mesh I got from Amazon.

On your screen, are you going to do a two piece or one? if you are doing a two piece, the IM will block a lot of light. I personally like the Red Sea DIY I bought the biggest one and have used it for multiple tanks. Also I do have a slightly smaller mesh than the IM screen in black if you need some, I know you said you bought some on Amazon but black really disappears.

The IM one goes up to 48" as a single piece. Agreed, a single piece is much better. The black mesh might be a good upgrade. Looks nicer. The standard IM mesh is a bit too large. A wrasse can shoot through it (unfortunately for my brunneus RIP). My amazon mesh might be a few inches short--will check it out tomorrow. Thanks!

Ps. That blue monti is now a full blown forest. The pink streaks absolutely love it. I turn around and they are hanging out between the branches and don't dart away. Was trying to think of what to do with it, but now think I'll leave it on the sand bed and let it just fill out.

The One 10-pack of Adjustable Coral Frag Disks I won from the Noop giveaway came in. Bit different than expected and not sure how it's supposed to work.

This is what arrived:

I suppose you glue the bottom to some surface (no "pedestal" like shown above) and angle it in a way that gets the frag the best light or position. Only the small size, it seems, so not sure how much of an improvement this is over a regular frag disk. I'll try it out!

Glue a waterproof magnet on it and stick to the glass….
