Well some of those items you could have gotten from CoralVue outlet website for super cheap…
That and with that outlet you can only control on/off you can’t time a doser on it.
The wifi strips you mean? Or the the dosing heads on the Minnow?

Just seeing the CoralVue outlet website for the first time... At least the only thing I missed out on in my list was the wifi strip ($10 cheaper on the Outlet).

Time we got this thread back on track. Serious content for serious reef keeping! And nothing get you in a solemn state like salinity.

I've almost reached a decision that the wrasses in observation will get a 30 day hyposalinity treatment for ich prevention, along with prazi/metro, although prazi might happen in the DT instead, since the blenny still has neobedenium flukes in its eye. I just can't see redoing the observation tank to remove all the live rock and sand to make copper or chloroquine work, and I think the wrasses like a more natural landscape enough anyway.

So last I checked, the salinity was 1.022 in the observation tank. Got to get it down to 1.009 and put a bottle ATO on the tank to keep salinity. I know hyposalinity doesn't prevent velvet, brook or one uronema. I also jave no idea what the probability is of the wrasses carrying those--I think metro takes care of uronema, though. Velvet and brook will just end up being a risk. Hmmm...

Entering a sad period of tank neglect. Unsurprising since August is the busiest month for me, what with juggling so much work and keeping this thread on track! Anyway, eye to the future at least.

First the happy stuff:
1. Hydros arriving this week
2. Reef Outfit dosing container arriving this week
3. An experimental Reef Outfit float switch for Hydros arriving this week or next. Exciting!

Less happy:
1. There seems to be cyano growing on top of my stylo. Just on top of the flat-top. The stylo has grown so much that it is creating a dead space where no flow is getting through. This is also adversely affecting all corals/nems on the left side of the tank...
2. Plans for the upgrade getting pushed back to Mid-late September, possibly October.
3. Still working on an acceptable (for me) QT procedure for the wrasses in the Evo.
4. Little baby Philips showing up in all 3 tanks...

TTD for the upgrade, in no particular order:
1. Lid--going with a screen lid instead of the polycarbonate lid I was planning. Summer time has shown me just how hard it is to keep temperature, so will need all of the oxygen/evaporation possible. Need to decide on the lid.
2. Light mount--have a design, just need to do the shopping for the T slots and components.
3. Control board--started working on a pegboard design, stopped and will pick it back up later.
4. Wire control--waiting for the new HD version of the DC buddy to get all of the bricks gone.
5. Borrow buckets to get ready for a one-day transfer of everything in the 40. This gonna be a tihs show for sure.
6. Get a piece of cut glass for sump baffle; silicone new sump baffle for refugiums
7. Get more buckets to start seeding sand and rocks with Fiji Mud.
8. Get another brute trash bin for making enough saltwater.
9. Get a decent fan for cooling the overheating tank.
10. Get a large piece of glass or acrylic to go beneath the tank; get running LED to illuminate from behind for style points.
11. Working on one extra center brace for the stand.
12. Drill cable hole in back of stand.
13. Put plumbing together.
14. Why did I do this again?
15. Revise will. @tbrown get the RODI buddy. @Slocke gets the pencil wrasse so @i cant think isn't the only one that gets to show pretty Pseudojuloides on Wednesdays... more revisions to come. @Crabby48 gets the M. bipartitis, pinkies, H. chrysus and splendid pintail wrasse because "welcome back to the hobby!"--they will be delivered to your door by @OrchidMiss who gets a frequently splitting RBTA.

Of course I get the RO since I probably won't use it...

Look who's being a good reefer today!
PXL_20240815_235631962.jpg

No idea how many months have gone by without cleaning the gyre. I had the xf330 cranked up to 70% to get some flow across the tank, but lately even that's not doing it. Was hesitant because of the two baby RFAs living on the gyre. One meandered and probably got sucked in, so with only the one left, I tried removing it (not looking successful) and proceeded with an overnight citric acid cleans. Scrubbadubdub and it's back in action. I should have dropped the power first. At 70%, it shot up water like a jet ski. At 40% now and still a bit intense, but at least there is water movement on the far side of the tank now. Dinos or something else were just starting to settle in. Amazing the difference in performance after a good clean!
