And you can't do Berghia because od wrasses right?
My first batch if berghia were gone after two days even with adding them at night. Second batch arrived DSAA (dead soon after arrival), so I haven't had the chance to test if they'd make it. They are too expensive to keep serving as snacks for the wrasses. :)

I mean every time Ive used peppermints all aiptasia are gone by the next day. Issue is the peppermints die in under 6 months and the aips return
Interesting... I've had Peppermints completely eliminate Aiptasia in 2 tanks and the Aips never came back.

Well, that's certainly the hope! I'm just a bit worried about my baby RFAs. But then again, if the tank keeps up like it is, I'm afraid it'll be heading for a crash in any case...

I've been reminded that this build needs updating! Without further ado:

Trouble in Paradise
As many of you know by my recent posts, I am losing the fight against Aiptasia. I was doing well using kalk paste fed right to their mouth hole, but the inaccessible areas in the back build up to stagging proportions.

These guys are everywhere bothering everything. Between my zoas, between my SPS on my LPS skeletons...

I bought a $36 blue 10mW "burn" laser to try burning them to death like I saw on a Melev's Reef video. Should have listened to @VintageReefer , this was a bad, bad idea. The baddest of ideas. Not only did I fail to kill a single aiptasia during a week of burning, I seemed to have triggered a massive spawning event, and now I have baby aiptasia growing on EVERYTHING.

I don't even want to look in the back.

My fat head dendro has been closed completely for over a week. There are several Aips by it that have been bothering it and the monti cap. So yesterday I yanked it off of its perfect spot under the monti caps and moved it to a cement frag base in the sand bed. It opened up today:

At least he seems happier.

The bubble algae problem seems to be self-contained. There are a few holdout areas, but nothing becoming a major problem. This branching cyphastrea is a casualty, unfortunately--bubble algae and coral boring spionids, it seems (sorry @TangerineSpeedo ! Didn't mean to let this guy get overtaken! Was one of my favorites!) :

In other news, my pencil wrasse is still alive!

But still freaks out as soon as there is movement in the office and dives into the sand:

If I get in early, I try to turn on the feeders before entering the room so he gets a little extra food before he dives into the sand for the rest of the day.

And I didn't post weekly goals. Been a heavy writing week, so not much I've been able to do. Goals:
1. Buy peppermint shrimp
2. Feed ailing corals (dendro, scoly, recuperating plate)
3. That's it. Can't manage much else this week.

Good rest of the week everyone!

My three Peppermints took out my Aiptasia fairly quickly but they have been a mixed bag. The ones I have, sourced locally, seem to be real 'cave potatoes', They seemed to prefer the young tender Aips but when they were gone they went after anything that vaguely resembled an Aip that was close to their cave. When I finally pulled the LPS out they finished off the big Aips and then I had a mass loss of Astraea Snails which might, or might not, be a coincidence. All of my other CUC are fine but not an Aip in sight.

Welp, everyone's out of peppermints. None to be had. I'm going back to blasting them with boiling water and kalk paste.

Oh, and I did a thing!

So now deciding whether or not to also ask for hinged doors for feeding/maintenance.

Basic design:

Door design:

Briefly thought about holes for a feeding cup or two, but I generally don't use frozen, and even when I do I usually thaw it in a tube, remove the soupy water, and resuspend it in fresh tank water to feed. So probably not dropping whole frozen cubes in anyway.
Wait how’d I miss this!

Speaking of corals. Went to buy a neptune bounce from a local.

Came home with 3 extra zoas.

Left: Mystiques; Right: Joker
Center: No Name--I'm finding "Chiquitas", "Pink Elephants" and "Lemonheads" as potential matches.
Do the center zoas look like this?

15 is lemonheads
Hmm, not exactly. The center of the disk of mine don't have the same contrast with the outer disk and green mouth as the ones you posted. Close and maybe just a matter of lighting, though.
