Where do you usually get your replacements from?
In the last I've gotten them on sale from Chewy. But can also get them from Liveaquaria and other places. Seems like the big vendors like BRS and SWA don't carry the RODI buddy so no luck there.

Uff, one that is very much used up. I use the RODI buddy. I have two TDS meters. One is reading 2ppm and the other 0ppm, so I'ma call that a win.
I'm seriously looking at one of these. Need a newer set up and the replacement filters are easy to find. Don't know if I'm going to pull the trigger on the Buddy or spend more for one of the BRS units.

I'm rarely doing water changes, so the Buddy is plenty for me. It's probably been over a year since I've changed filters, so just using it for topoff water and the occasional water change. And it just started creeping past zero. our TDS going into the filter is around 500, so not great.

Well, in a bit of happy news, my Black Widow decided to come out from the bottom of the rock underneath my setosa and go back to the top of his island in full display. I know someone who's getting a big piece of krill today!

No comments from the Peanut Gallery on my return nozzles. There's limited space for an algae scrubber in an AIO!

I would suggest letting tds get higher and do a ATI icp. This is the only way to know for sure. I did mine when it was reading one hundred fifty something tds.... it was all zeros except silicate. Harmless, people dose this to fight against dino/cyano. So I don't panic if I see some tds. If I think I see some Dino/ uglies I let it go high to get some silicate in the tank. If things look good but I see diatoms, then change di.

Mine right now :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

I do want a ro Buddy though as I run flat switches connected directly to rodi unit. Tds creep is real!! Can you share more details of how it functions and how you have it set up?

I'm seeing some GHA where I've never seen it before in this tank, so I'm starting to think there might be something I'm adding to the tank that's causing a breakout. I should probably test my parameters. Oh look, a butterfly!

Lol.
Get a urchin, maybe it will make a gha hat to match your troll snail...(?)
That's a different tank! The snails in my 40 wear bubble algae hats. And I suspect the clown prison snails actually have some sort of turf algae--it's WAY tougher than any GHA I've come across.

I am confused. Spectrapure uses standard filter sizes. You can buy almost any brand (except the ro buddy filters) for it. You don’t need a new RODI. Just use different brand filters if spectrapure is too expensive. I did find spectrapure to last longer though than BRS brand. Your mileage may vary.

The ro buddy will cost less upfront and more over time so don’t buy it if you already have rodi housing. This would actually cost you more.

Can’t stress this enough. Spectrapure is a standard plastic housing. You do not need to use spectrapure filters in it. Do not buy another unit.
