For the uninformed, what specifically do you need to be ready for with plates?I had a plate once…it came as a freebie

They typically do better once you've got your tank well-stabilized, not lots of GHA all about (GHA can attach to their exposed skeleton when they aren't happy), and certainly no dinos/cyano on the sand bed. Bubble algae is also problematic, but that's easier to remedy--just pop the bubbles off their skeleton.
