You do know pics are required, right? Lol

I do a really good job of spamming the build thread forum.

Already paid for two gladiator clowns that are a male/female pair that have been together since before they arrived at my lfs and enough coral to pay for my tank 3x over.

I know my chance for success is destitute but at least I can enjoy a few days of watching these guys grow.

BUILD TIME: 1 Year, 11 Months
ROCK WET: 1 Year, 9 Months
TANK WET: 1 Year, 2 Months

I did it. I said long ago if the tank was doing better I would order Montipora on Labor Day weekend. Well, @BoomCorals won for selection and pricing. It was the shop that had the three pieces that were must have for me. They also had the Blue Digitata I wanted to complete the color group for $15. This was my haul

The Forest Fire and Tubbs under $30 was enough to make me pull the trigger. Long ago this is what I wanted. I decided they would grow too fast and chose the pricey Acropora route instead. Now that I have a second chance I am going for the growth patterns. I think they will love the flow in my tank, especially if I add the second gyre (which I have on hand).

I know, I have no money, but I saved a gift card for a long time and used it up as planned this weekend. Felt good to spoil myself a little. Probably be the last time for a while.

Well, unless I see a Pederson’s Shrimp in person.

I am sticking with cool colors mostly for corals and warm colors for fish. I have always tried for a contrast between sessile and mobile. The Forest Fire Digitata should give a perfect splash of warm color among the rest. The Setosa is nice, but more fleshy. The possible varied colors of the Forest Fire sold me.

Looks like a great day with the kids. :)
Nice order of corals as well.
No qt here either. ;)
I thought QT was “quiet time” which I need quite often. ;Hilarious

Seriously, I am not knocking QT. I just have a different philosophy which no one should probably follow. I get why some folks quarantine. If I had a 200 gallon+ tank with several $$$ fish, I would probably do an observational QT.

Nice order brian... gonna use similar placements like before?

Here is a meme for all u tight-rope walkers:

Personally, after dealing with an outbreak in my 1st tank 4 months in, I will never plop and drop again. With all the gadgets we spend money on for "peace of mind" in this hobby considered, I cant justify not QT'ing new arrivals. I have done both prophylactic therapeutic cupramine, and also observation only with prazi to deworm. Had great successes..

But...

I will be the 1st to say I have had losses, through both methods. Most were due to my own neglegance. Or not reading the fine print in depth enough. Etc etc.

But I will also say that every single fish that has completed QT has never had even a single spot, funny poop, erratic swimming, nothing, ever. Over a year now. No UV. Of all the things I concern myself with, the health of my fish are not one of them thanks to thorough QT protocol.

My inverts come from a fishless system and supplier. And the only risk I do take is not qt'ing corals for 90 day fallow. The odds of a thomont making it into your reef on a frag is highly unlikely. I scrape the plugs, or put brand news ones on upon arrival. And do a 2 step iodine / melafix treatment prior to the dt as well.

Finished the whole thread and love seeing the value of having patience over “Quick! Fix it now!” Thanks, @NY_Caveman and all you other contributors on this thread.
I hope I can practice that same virtue when I start my tank.
Wow, thank you! That was very kind. I kind of feel like I should apologize too, LOL. Welcome aboard!
