I've never had a macroalgae reactor before. It's definitely something I'd love to try on my reef! I've admired these reactors for a while. There are several great ones on the market, and we're actually giving away the brand new one from Geo's Reef on Monday! (Get your entries in HERE!!) These are like self-contained refugiums for those who don't have the space to set up a whole new tank as a refugium. Based on what I've seen, they're great for keeping nutrients under control and for cultivating pods! How many of you guys have used one of these on your tank? What did you grow in it? Share your experience!

Are you like me and have never tried one, but want to? Which one would you try?

Here's the video of @geo sharing about his new design! Check it out and don't forget to enter in the giveaway to be drawn on Monday!

I have the Tunze model. It seems to grow chaeto OK and ulva pretty good. Algae doesn’t always spin and I’m not sure that matters…
I’m not seeing any actual nitrate reduction however. I’m keeping the reactor running as I’m not sure the cause
Mid stocked 750XXL LPS, dual skimmers, reefmat, reactor

It's defensively worth running algae reactors. Over many years, I have had excellent experiences with the Pacific Sun Algae Reactor and Pax Bellum A.R.I.D. Macroalgae Reactor. It could be hard to buy in the US Pacific Sun, but from experience, I have it's the nr ONE leader and costs much less $$$. It's strongly recommended.

Had one but had no joy growing chaeto.
I sold it when I had a number of people suggest I "dose nitrate" to increase growth......which seemed counterproductive to having the reactor in the first place :face-with-tears-of-joy:
