Hello everybody! My go-to online macroalgae store sells this macroalgae called "Lobe Bladed Fern Caulerpa". It is a rare indo-pacific species, and it looks very beautiful so I'd like to buy some very soon. What I noticed though is it is absolutely  nowhere on the internet. The only photos of the macroalgae that I have ever layed eyes on were from the shop website, hence I also do not know the ideal params for it.

Have you by chance heard about lobe Bladed fern caulerpa? Do you keep some in your aquariums? If you know absolutely anything about this macroalgae, please let me know! :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

How about you post a picture so people can see what plant they are talking about?

Unfortunately, there are quite a few species of Caulerpa, and I'm not familiar with all of them - I don't recognize this species, but there are quite a few that are similar. That said, the closest ones I've seen to this were unidentified, and Caulerpa taxonomy with similar species is a bit of a mess at the moment, so I'm not sure if I'd be able to say for sure which species this is even if I could narrow it down to two or three species.

Regardless, here's a quote with some similar species, and these kinds of Caulerpa generally seem to do pretty well in most tanks:
Definitely a Caulerpa species - the question's really just which one.

The tips of the "leaves" being rounded eliminates quite a few (C. taxifolia, C. mexicana, C. sertulariodes, C. scalpelliformis, etc.) - it leaves us with options like C. articulatus, C. ashmeadii, C. cactoides, etc.

The "stalk" of the algae looks pretty smooth for C. articulatus and C. cactoides, but maybe you can see if it has those "notches" in it that are typical of the species; the "leaves" look slightly too short and stubby for C. ashmeadii.

Anyway, with several dozen species in the genus, I would expect it to a Caulerpa species closely genetically related to C. articulatus, C. ashmeadii, C. cactoides, etc., but I'm not sure exactly which species it would be (I would guess it would fall into the "etc." category though).
Edit: Slight correction to my quote- the accepted name is C. articulata, not C. articulatus.
