I used only want LPS. For the movement and little worried about starting SPS. Now I am a a stick head.

woahhh… the one thing that i HAVE always loved the look of in SPS is the big plating montiporas. having that color just stick out like a shelf is sooo cool looking, it reminds me of the classic/what you’d see snorkeling “coral reef” look… I got a lil pink one yesterday, $5 so if i kill it it’s not biggie.

Small update: move all my LPS at the top to the bottom of the tank and put a small pink monti cap and the a small anacropora frag at the top, added a wave maker as i have never even had one before, it’s pointing a little bit more towards the surface of the water, I assume that’s ok? figured direct flow might upset them? anyways, par at top is now 250 (plan to bring it up to 300 in the next couple of weeks) bottom is 100-125. LPS were upset at me for a couple days but are all back out.

I do have one concern: my bubble tip made its home in a really cool spot coming out from under my main rock structure and is now hosting my clowns after 10 months.. just wondering what will happen to the BTA, i presume 250 par is gonna tick it right off, hasn’t gotten upset yet but here is a current placement of it right now, old pic as i’m not home.

sorry for the long message and i appreciate every one of you’s input and have loved seeing all of your tanks!

I think it would be awesome if this thread could keep going and people post more pics and or growth updates on their current SPS tanks!

My only regret with it is I should have put it lower in the tank so it could be seen better.

Reef tanks are what you want it to be. I have mixture of Acros / torches and Zoas and its all nice. A tank full of torches can be just as aesthetically pleasing a tank full of acro colonies. Don't build your tank on what anyone else likes do it based on what you like.
