Well my fishes eat mainly pellets. Some frozen, a variety of frozen for my carnivores. But the proof is in the pudding, not words.
Here are pictures of my fishes. I think they are extremely heathy. There is no way I can feed adequate variety with live and frozen food if that is all I feed my tank.
There is no way the food we feed our tank is “natural”. That is where the science of feed come in. It does not matter the source of the nutrients is terrestrial, just is the nutrients are what the animals needed?

I can't get mine to eat pellets of any size, slow sinking or otherwise. They watch them sink with a kind of mild curiosity, then return to begging under the feeding ring for frozen.

I use the small pellets because they work well in the Apex auto feeder

I use them for an evening feed with ocean nutrition 1 and 2, and also thats the prime feeding method when Im away

Better question is: why use pellets of any size? I don't use pellets - sure way to create polution in your tank..
Or feed fish a varied diet. Pellets are a great way to supplement what can’t be given easily or affordably through raw food.

you only pollute a tank by improper feeding techniques.

Medium and Large for me and I just tried new pellets (which are used in auto feeder) recommended by Lou at Tropic Marin and my fish are going nuts with it-

I don't use pellets often anymore. Mysis and capelin roe for me. I have used them in the past, and I will say that smaller pellets are better for almost every size of fish. Even big fish prefer to eat smaller pieces. Around the size of the fish's eye is a good sizing guideline.

voted other. Never use pellet, fish do not eat them, they just fall fast to the bottom and rot. I tried small and larger one, and wasted my money. I much prefer flakes, they float slowly and give fish time to catch it.

Agreed I only do the flake and frozen and I’ve never really had any issues with getting anyone to eat

Bite size: What size of pellets do you use?

A common and easy way to feed the livestock in your reef tank is pellets. Whether it is for fish or coral, for broadcast or target feeding, pellets are a commodity for feeding. But what size pellets do you use, or should you use? What types of pellets do you use? Are there any special pellets that you use for unique situations? Tell us about your experience with feeding pellets and share any tips that you may have!

What about flakes versus pellets? Is one “dirtier” than the other? Seems the flakes are easier to consume, but can be messy

I only use small pellets from Ocean Nutrition. All my fish and star fish like them.
