I was told that breaking the pellets up and using them would cause problems in the aquarium like elevated nutrients and other problems... But I never faced that Issue with freshwater fish food when keeping freshwater fish
Thats illogical. The pellet, whether consumed or not, will raise the nutrients nearly identically. Fish expel most of the nitrogen and phosphorus from the food they consume.

When I bought the wrong sized pellets once I just pressed them lightly with the side of a butter knife and they broke into smaller pieces. Then I feed in small portions to make sure they didn't end up in the sand. It is easy and quick enough that I just crushed what I planned to feed that time. I would not grind or use a mortar/pestle as that will tend to make a lot of fine powder.
That’s what I did today! But with a big spoon, next time I’ll use the butter knife, don’t want to bend the spoon, mom will kill me haha

That’s what I know as well, maybe they thought that I would turn it into a powder and use it which would be of more waste since the fish wouldn’t be able to consume most of that

I used to do this with my freshwater fish and never had problems with the parameters, when I heard this for the reef tank it just didn’t make sense

Wait until they learn about the powders and reef roids people dose to feed corals.

That claim is nonsense.

Use this to crush pills. Should work on pellets although it’s going to be a powder. Pepper grinder likely better as suggested.

Really? How? Can you give me a recipe to follow?

You do not need everything on here, basically just make a seafood medley with what you can find.

Another:

It is not uncommon so there are a lot of recipes out there
