Cats love tanks. Here's my other one with the perfect fish for it:I can only imagine what my cat would do if he saw that many fish in a tank

Mine couldn't care less. Just loves to trip me up when I've come home with a new fish.My dog snaps at mine, at least when it was his eye level.
Lil Schist just loves to sit on the back of the couch and watch them, or she loves to look down on the sump and watch the pinfish swim around. My dog snaps at mine, at least when it was his eye level.
Mine expectects it to be a treat for him.Mine couldn't care less. Just loves to trip me up when I've come home with a new fish.
Wow that's a beautiful sump!Lil Schist just loves to sit on the back of the couch and watch them, or she loves to look down on the sump and watch the pinfish swim around.
Mine would definitely try to snatch something out of there.Lil Schist just loves to sit on the back of the couch and watch them, or she loves to look down on the sump and watch the pinfish swim around.
I changed it up a little a while back. No more black sand and it now has an algae scrubber on the backside for free fish food lol.Wow that's a beautiful sump!
you've been talking about the scrubber. not much better than free food!I changed it up a little a while back. No more black sand and it now has an algae scrubber on the backside for free fish food lol.
Will be updating my build thread today about it, as I will be putting all of the gorgs, zoas and other macros back in there later.
Mines out in the open and so I really wish it was more pretty but I wasn't thinking and left no room behind the tank so now its a wire mess. Also all my pretty red algae was eaten by Mexican turbo snails. They are the best CUC in my opinion but not macro safe.I changed it up a little a while back. Pic right after I redid the rocks and moved the scrubber to behind them, as opposed to where it was off to the side.you've been talking about the scrubber. not much better than free food!
and hides some of the plumbing behind it too.Pic right after I redid the rocks and moved the scrubber to behind them, as opposed to where it was off to the side.
It is still not too much of an eye sore and is now where I can make a skin the shows the sump at all times. Plan is to make a panel to put on there that matches how it is now, but have a cutout for just the sump where it is just the "water filled area" that is shown.
yup.and hides some of the plumbing behind it too.
That is a very well put together set up. The wood really compliments the natural color of the corals. Also that clam is incredible.yup.
But the sump currently is not seen at all. In order to have the cutout I want, I have to figure out a way to shade it also. I am thinking of ordering one of those retractable blinds and put it behind the panel to hide the sump when I need to or the wife wants to. I also have some other DIY ideas, but have not played around with them yet to know if they would work.
I also still have to play around with the trim around the "window " idea. Being as the Apex and other stuff is on t he other side, thinking I can do a double window to display the electronic and such, so it matches looks wise. But would have to lower some of the electrons (not hard), so that they are shown in the window. I also want to move the iPad down there and off the wall.
Excuse the cloudy water, this was right after I kicked all the detritus up in the sump for the corals to get a good meal lol.
But you can see how with the stand, it would look weird with only one window in the left panel. Luckily they are just held there with magnets and easily removable to mess around with things.
That looks amazing! Like I was even going to notice cloudy water...yup.

Thanks. The biggest thing was making the stand match everything else in the house. Luckily I have built most everything, except the couch. I have no idea how to do that lol. Our house is an old 1800s farmhouse, so the wife wanted everything to look the part. So white wash and barn wood furniture it is lol. That is a very well put together set up. Correct. That looks amazing! Like I was even going to notice cloudy water...
Sump window left. Tech window right?
That'd look nice. And the dog can mess with the iPad at will too.Correct.
