I recently (against my better judgment) bought a copperband butterfly. As is often the case, when I got him, he immediately stopped eating. I tried about 10 different types of food, and he (after about 2-3 weeks) started picking at something that was growing on the underside of my overflow box. LOL I started putting masstick hydrated in selcon under the overflow box in hopes that he'd start eating that. I'm not sure if he ever actually did, but I did notice he started gaining weight again and slowly started to explore the tank more during the day. Well, this morning I got excited because I noticed him going from rock to rock grazing on whatever he's finding in the holes in the rock. He's happily moving around the tank now and seems "fat and happy," so I think we've turned the corner with him!

So that's what has me excited about my reef right now. How about you? What are you excited about?

It’s likely he’s eating copepods , how bigs the tank and how old? I ask cos you’ll want to maintain a big pod population if you can’t get him to eat other foods
I’ve had success with store bought clams , just chuck them in frozen and when they open up “ dinner time!”

Oh back to the question…. Seems lame but I’m excited about my kh being 9 ( was 8 for months and the jump wasn’t intentional but I was always planning to raise it but for the life of me , well I didn’t want to rush but it’s there now)
I’m already noticing positive differences like more polyp extension and fuller looking euphyllias

Excited? The stuff growing on the front glass is coming off fairly easily if I put the glove on and bother to scrape it.

The coral seems happy for the most part so I think I might do the rest of the work needed to get it running again properly.

Superb!
Such a rewarding fish to keep when you get them feeding.

My copperband really bulked up fast on masstick & I add copepods in bulk monthly which keeps him hunting all-day(also keeps him away from my fancy acans)

I'm currently excited about my derasa clam.hes packing on size with new shell growth since being moved up onto rockwork.
Not the long term solution but until he gets a custom, large cradle in new tank next year it seems to be helping him thrive!

Ooh. I got a Copperband at the end of June for (hopefully) aiptasia control. Love it. Started by only eating tube worms and pods but then started eating the smaller pesty nems and has been eating frozen for several weeks now. So that’s something I’m excited about as he’s a great fish and quite active. Also my tank is looking better and better.
