You can ask at the paint counter at either Home Depot or Lowes (or similar store if you don't have one of those near you). They'll get you pointed in the right direction. If doing it that way, I reccomend a chalk paint, and then a clear coat to seal it. You'll get a really nice finish. In the long run, it'll be less expensive than spraying it.

Waiting to see the finished product in it’s LED lit glory! Otherwise, I did enjoy following along with your process. I especially liked that you posted about the coring mishaps and mistake with the hinges. Far too many people either don’t post about problems, for a variety of reasons, or about how they fixed them. I think this leads to others remaining too fearful to take new things on. Fortunately, I’ve either been too bold or too dumb to be fearful enough not to engage in new undertakings. So, thanks for sharing your adventures!

I’ll step up to the plate…. Aesthetically, I don’t see the appeal of having all the controls in cabinet lit up like that next to the tank. I find it distracting and takes away from what the focal
point should be. It all seems a little show off-y. Im also grouchy, sooooooo.

I got called “sweet” twice yesterday and not like, “That’s a sweet control cabinet, dude!” But as in, “That was very sweet of you to say.” And now you throw a reference to being kind at me. Maybe I’m softening up in my old age. I don’t really know what’s going on but I better snap out of this ****!

Listen here, lady! It’s called accent lighting and decor. Kind of like how the Mona Lisa has a frame around her with a small light shining on her too. Clearly, you’ll never be an interior decorator unless it involves empty bottles of booze strewn about the place. (Hey, I think my sweetness and kindness has left. I’m back to my old self. Yaahhhoooo!)

That's valid and fair. The lights won't be on all of the time though. I'm wiring in a magnetic sensor via the breakout box that will trip when the front door is opened and turn the lighting on if it is between the hours of 6 pm and 6 am. I just haven't gotten to it yet. As for showing it off, absolutely. I'm a geardo and extra AF. It is 100% a flex, and I'm good with that. To each their own though, but I do appreciate the feedback. As a side note, I hate the glare from the LEDs on the bottom of the cabinet and am going to cover them with white electrical tape. It's too much.
