Awesome tank! Look forward to the build.Well, I continue to collect parts, pieces and lots of goodies. I anticipate that my sump by GEO should be completed in the next days. Joe over at Glass Cages teased me at the end of the day today with a picture of this sexy beast! I feel like it is almost ready to start getting after it. The contractor was here this week and took the window out in my living room as it is the only way I can get this tank in my house. Contractor starts there work for this project next week. I am pulling about 120 amps into the room for this build and I am putting in plumbing for a sink and also plumbing from my mixing room on the other side of the house. I am looking forward to my 14x10 man cave with one side of the peninsula facing that room and the rest of the house gets the other two views. Look at this sexy beast:
3 degrees on 250G in an hour is pretty powerful.I never had the chiller hooked up to this much water before. In the past I had about 50 gallons of salt mixed that I would use for a water change for the Max 500. I had another brute of salt mix that is (still) used for AWC for the reefer. For the AWC I didn’t care about temps, I was only doing 3k ML at a time. But for the 50G I would use most of it when I did a water change for the Max, so I would use the chiller to get it down to what I needed. It has worked flawlessly for that. So I am using the Iwaki 40RT. I’m not sure if more volume would be better or worse in this scenario. But over 60 minutes I dropped 250g 3 degrees.
That’s good to know. It’s also on the Iwaki, which is turning the tank about 5 times an hour.3 degrees on 250G in an hour is pretty powerful.
Depending on how the PID is set up, this would keep everything in range easily I think.
Great to see the tank installed and positioned. It is a beast.Look what is finally in the house. We started thinking about a new tank last November, decided to do it in February and we were off to the races in March.
I think it was late March. I changed designs about 42 times. I was in no rush. I’m really going old school with n this build. 3 closed loops, 4 sea swirls, metal halides (plus LED and T5s). So as I thought through a lot of things, I updated the build. If I hadn’t changed the design so many times, the lead time would have been shorter. I didn’t do a final approval on design til labor 7-8 weeks ago, I think. I think I drove GEO crazier with my sump design changes. Hope to have that in the next week or two.Great to see the tank installed and positioned. It is a beast.

What is inside the planted tank?
As for the planted tank, nothing special. About 10 different types of plants and a bunch of petco fish. I was injecting CO2, but accidentally injected a full bottle in 2 hours. Wife wasn’t happy… Luckily, all the sleeping fish came back to life, we did lose one about a week later. But, talk about maintenance free. I haven’t cleaned the glass but once in 2 years and I caused that issue. I really need to break this down but I feel guilty as it’s not the fishes fault and I don’t want them going some place I don’t trust. Short of the lights I would likely trade the entire setup for some Rod’s.Great to see the tank installed and positioned. It is a beast.
