Some people here swear that glass tanks are the best, while others say acrylic is better. I am curious to see which one you think is better and why. Bonus points for sharing pictures of your tank! Photo Credit: @Swiss Frag Reefer and @WWC

There’s merits to both. I think glass is more attractive while the threat of seam failure is significantly reduced with acrylic. I have a glass tank and an acrylic tank. Sorry I don’t have a FTS but I do agree this thread needs pics so here’s the acrylic tank.

I would never risk acrylic in a reef. The thought of how easy it is to scratch it makes me shudder.

I wanted to go with acrylic on my latest build for the weight saving. I ended up with glass and had to hire movers because it was over 600lbs empty. I've been so succesful scratching glass tanks in the past that I was afraid I would be way too succesful with acrylic. I have no regrets at this point

Anymore opinions? Thinking of going acrylic. I read that it can be buffed out?

I like acrylic for anything over 75 gallons.

Acrylic does scratch easier. I have scratched mine, you cannot see scratches unless you know how to get a good angle with light ie they are invisible.

People who talk poorly of acrylic never owned acrylic.
