TANK TALK: The reef aquarium hobby is incredibly rewarding but can be full of challenges for the novice and veteran alike. Tell us about what draws you to the hobby. What do you find most rewarding?
What is that saying...put too much in it to give up now

It is an enjoyable hobby, its like interior decorating (I am not good at) with the different colors, shapes and sizes of everything inside the tank.

What drew me to the hobby was my boyfriend. He has had some tanks in the past and was always mentioning wanting to start one again ever since we got together. We had some extra money laying around and saw Petco was having their tank deals so we went for it. I’m new to this and we didn’t want to get anything too big for now so we just got a 20 long. At first I loved the fish but now that we got some corals and I started researching them more and more I’ve grown to love coral just as much. I’m so looking forward to watching our tank grow and go through this journey with my partner and learn to love this hobby as much as he does. I’m sure it’ll be rewarding once our corals start to grow and eventually be able to frag ourself some cool pieces.

The most rewarding is the knowledge I have gained. It gives me another level of appreciation and respect for the animals and how nature cares for them.

It's the challenging times that keep me interested. It's working through those challenges and solving the issue. That is also the reward.

Official entry: I made a polycarbonate lid for my IM 100 EXT but it has some flaws, I would love one of these lids. The auto feeder would be nice as well so I would not have to worry about depending on other people when I'm out of town or working overtime.

I have a love for the ocean. Being able to carry a piece with me is what draws me to the hobby. Raising captive bred fish is the most rewarding part for me.

The eas a decade ago, but a fellow r2r member suffered a tank crash that wiped out everything. R2r members came together to help get them back on their feet. Even sponsors helped.

Seeing my tank mature and thrive is extremely rewarding for me. I enjoy being able to finally starting to understand how to create a good home for my fish and corals.

I think that it's the challenge itself, for me. I enjoy being able to find a balance within my tank. I especially enjoy finding natural solutions to problems that arise. I think this hobby keeps me interested because it's ever evolving and I love learning. What originally drew me to reefing was a Craigslist ad long ago for a puffer fish. It was just him in a 54 corner tank with river rock on the bottom. He was in fresh water and after researching, I learned he would live much longer in saltwater, so I transitioned to full saltwater and found a LFS. Once I walked in, I was hooked. The colors, the movement...it's all amazing

Many of our club meetings. They have a talk followed by a kahoot game for gift cards to the store. being in fresh and salt water I have a good chance at winning, and have 3 times in a row. Starting to feel bad about it though.

My draw is the learning. Any little success is what keeps me in it.

I also find it interesting what I can have success with and what I can't. Zoas struggle, acros, well don't boom like some people, but certainly do better than the zoas.

Now, I said this giveaway has a bit of a different spin to it, and here's what I mean... One of the things we love about having a community like Reef2Reef is that we can come together over our passion for all things marine and celebrate the wonderful parts of the reef hobby, we enjoy showing off tanks, talking through complications, finding solutions, and celebrating progress toward those thriving beautiful reef aquariums, and we do all of that together in community! Well, in this event, you guys are going to get to talk through all of these different aspects of the hobby with the guys behind these 2 awesome brands.

The love of aquatic life no matter fresh or salt, but saltwater has my heart. The most rewarding aspect is seeing life thrive in my little slice of the ocean of a tank.
