When I did the par readings on ATI bulbs the purple + were about 360 par and the blue + were 330-340par. The purple plus actually had a higher par reading then the white coral plus. I also noticed that the bulbs in the center of the fixture had a slightly higher par then the bulbs near the outside of the fixture. Maybe just change your bulbs around. Make sure your actinic is in the center of your fixture if your trying to reduce par. This info came from two different ATI sunpower fixtures with all ATI new bulbs. I also wouldn't run more then two white bulbs in your 8 bulb.

Thanks red good info I have cut back the cycle a bunch a few weeks ago and hope to raise it up another couple of inches and go from there.

Thanks here is a phone video from a bit further out terrible quality tho. I am having a bit if trouble with some of the acros not liking all of this light the new fixture is putting out. Some of them are finally looking amazing the high light ones bit some of my low light stuff have paled out some.

Any suggestions on some lower par bulbs I might can swap a few of the blue plus out with?

Thanks for the video. Appreciate it.

As for the corals becoming light, aside from changing out to lower PAR bulbs (in this case the Actinics which are lowest compared to the others), I would try the following:

1. Reduce light hours. When I changed from ATI Sunpower with 5x24wT5+24watts of LED to the ATI LED Powermodule with 8x24wT5 + 75watts of LED, I had some bleaching too (the new light has more overal PAR than a 250w halide and is probably about the same as a 400w). But I simply reduced the light hours. I am also using the dimming function. You can run 2xBlue+ as the supplemental and have these run say 9 hours. And then run the rest of tubes or 6 hours to start with.

2. Increase the height. This will reduce PAR. If you can, increase the height by at least 3inches. You can then lower it by an inch or two after some weeks.

Let us know how things progress.

Made the lfs store tour while I was in Virginia beach. The last one on the way home was reef chief. They had a really cool setup owner was a super cool guy showed me all around the place and I picked up one of his pentagonas is what he said looks a lot like a favia or war coral but it is ridiculously nice!

It is crazy under the Reefbrite! Tried to get a pic under it best I could do with my phone.

On another note I have quit using the two bulb cycle of my lighting and only running the reefbrite for a few hours and then the main six for a few hours then back to the reefbrite again. Things are quickly coloring back up.

I also have a 8 bulb ati powermodule led combo coming right after the holiday so I will be hitting you up Sahin a bunch for some help getting it set!

I wish I could get hold of some of these LPS you Americans have. In the UK, we can get very decent SPS stock, but LPS is a hit or miss depending on location.

So you pulled the trigger on the 8tube LED Powermodule! Cool! Yeah drop me a PM when you get it, I'll be happy to point you in the right way if you need help.

Had an alk drop and really ticked off most of my acros about three weeks ago. I only lost two pieces the SSC is totally gone and my blue flame as well. It looks like everything else is holding on and probably gonna make it. I am still going to pull all of my acros and put them in a qt I am setting up just to give myself some piece of mind. Should work out well as I will have the setup for any future sps additions.

Anyway got a few cool pics of my austro today trying to catch some food.

Sorry about the alk issues. The colours and blending on that Austro is pretty sweet.

Can you please share details on what you used to feed the fishes and sps corals in the last tank? Do you feed the same stuff and amount in this tank?

Yo man I briefed through your par readings got busy tonight but hope to look at them more later.

I feed Larry's nano blend once sometimes twice a day if I am home but once absolutely. About three times a week I feed lifeline green veggies that's it.

Oh I fed the same in my old tank too but now I have a lot more fish.

I picked it up a couple of weeks ago but I am waiting on my clubs par meter to get some current readings as to where I am before I hang it. Don't want to cook everything again! Got some suggestions on bulbs? I am thinking two ati actinic on the outer two bulbs mainly because all of my lps are out front and think the lower par would be good for them.

Something like this would be good:

Front:

Actinic - use UVL if possible...otherwise ATI or Giesemann
Blue+
Coral+
Blue+
---LED's---
Blue+
Purple+
Blue+
Actinic

You can even replace the Coral+ with another purple+. Remember you have the White LED's to add the rest of the spectrum, ie mainly the orange and yellow.

Also note that you only need to run the outer 4 tubes for maybe 4 hours...depends on how many and what acros you have towards the far front and far back.

Note that at about 5-7inches above the tank, the PAR is something like 350+ on the sandbed. However, thats on my 18inch high tank with about 16.5inches of water height. It will be a bit less on your tank due to the extra height.

You can run the Royal Blue LED's about 9 hours, the inner 4 T5's about 6 hours, and the outer 4 T5's about 4 hours. That should be fine for your SPS and LPS.

But do hang the light once you got the PAR meter and work out a light schedule based on that.
