We don't have any openings in the buy and I'm personally not planning on doing another for quite some time. I can't speak for the others in the group.

No real improvement on the Mia's or Mayan, they're not really receding or anything just looking bland and they absolutely refuse to take any sort of food whether its mysis or pellets...

Thanks. Didn't really think there'd be a change, but thought I'd check.

Yep, this one has been going and full since may. I might be interested in participating in another high end acan buy in a month or so. Missed out on the Cherry Corals buy, but I wouldn't be able to be the grower. Pm me if you think you want to get that going in a couple weeks.

Luvmyacans - if I remember correctly we were suppose to get 6 acans and 3 acans added free. Did this happen and what are the names of those acans?

Yeah I was just wondering if we knew the names of the "extra acan 1, 2, and 3". Just curious, doesn't matter. I'm sure they look cool.

From the pictures that Luvmyacans has provided one of the extras looks like the Rootbeer acan that was originally on the list. It is green/purple with larger less fluffy heads. The other two I don't recognize as any named acan.

Luv-what do you think about that?

Honest I don't really know about the names...they're great for buying and selling but once you get them in your tank you won't remember them anyways.

So I think it's time to begin the discussion on how we want to continue the growout...

I would say at this point most of the acans have at least 4 heads, some more, but I don't think any have less than that at this point. As far as the favias go, the dark vampire, war coral and the green/yellow one all have at least 4 eyes on them. The others look like they have 3-4.

I honestly wasn't expecting the growout to take this long but I'm really not seeing any significant growth on anything except the war coral at this point. How do you guys want to proceed? Do you want to chop them? Keep going? Maybe move them to a different tank and keep going? I have a few one-two week trips planned in late October through the end of the year so finding time to do any chopping and shipping at that point would be pretty tough. I am concerned about chopping and shipping a couple of the favias, since they seem to be so delicate but the acans and rest of the favias seem pretty hearty.

First off, I think you've done a wonderful job. Second, I'm not sure how many growouts you've done but this is probably the fastest one I've been in. I've never been in one less then a year but then again I've never done an acan one. Look at the sps one going on. They have an Oregon Tort. By the time they can frag that one seven ways, or however many ways, I'll be retired. Plus what are the chances the Del Fuego will still be going by then. Anyway, I'm up for doing whatever you guys want. If you are looking to getting them out of the tank, I'm fine with that. But I'm more than fine with waiting because i was thinking next summer for this growout to end. I don't care much about the favias. Not saying I don't want them but for some reason I can never keep them alive in my tank.

I just looked at when this started. It's only been four months. I don't even think I've gotten a haircut in the last 4 months.

I just worry about the favias...the acans I have no problem keeping around for as long as you guys want but the favias just make me nervous.

Yeah I think we can wait a little bit longer. I'm in another growout on this site and the main grower has NEVER given an update and its been going longer than this growout. He pops in just once and says his phone has been broken for months and he's been busy helping a friend go through a crisis and everyone says he's awesome and sends him prayers. And he still hasn't updated. The point I'm trying to make is that you are doing a great job and if something happens to a few of the favias nobody will be down on you because you did your best and kept us up to date. That's all we can expect and ask for.

I agree, great job! You can't hurry nature. I am also ok waiting a bit longer. If you need any help with getting some more food let me know, I'd be happy to help out with that. Just let us know what you are thinking.

Beerman-been watching that grow out too. Totally sucks! I was a "prayer" giver (i'm not religious so I don't really pray ;) ) I don't know him really, but do hope he gets everything figured out AND gets things right with the grow out. I thought it might be easier for him to come back if he was getting some positive too. Sometimes you can catch more bees with honey. Sometimes you just need to swat em though.

All good on the food, thanks though!

I'm gonna take the acans and move them from the frag rack to the sandbed (I can't stand looking at it anymore). They'll be in their own corner though so they won't get mixed in with any of my other pieces! I'm gonna try to get you guys some more pics soon here, just been crazy busy.

As far as the other buys go, I'm in another one that hasn't gone very well myself. Can't necessarily blame the grower for a bacterial infection but the updates have been less than stellar and photos have been limited. Wasn't a whole lot of $ to buy in fortunately and sometimes **** does happen. Unfortunately a lot of the pieces these grow outs are dealing with are not pieces that have been in systems for generations and therefore aren't as hardy as other pieces that have been around for ages. I guess that's the risk you take (as we've seen with some favias in this buy).

Yep, the risk we all take, and made a more affordable risk by doing a grow out. You are doing great and really appreciate the extra responsibility that you are having to shoulder being the grower.

Aren't you in TWO others ;) You are ballin! I just joined another one. Fingers crossed there! But it is starting out pretty strong so far.

When do you take off for vacation? Hope you are going somewhere awesome!

Hey guys, gonna try to take some shots today but thought I'd pop in with an update.

On the favia front, everything's looking alright. The red/blue one with the green mouth eats a decent amount but none of them really eat much whether I feed mysis or the pellets. The dark vampire and green/yellow favia look really good and the colors are pretty cool.

Acans are all doing great and eating like crazy, no major growth to report but they all look great.
