Man, I was just thinking about that. We got 5 pieces from Ian and I thought some of us threw in for 2 more pieces from Sexy but I have 8 pieces total! I think maybe one of my pieces slipped in there.

I probably should have kept better track of the extra 2 we got from SC. I know not everyone got in on that one but if you did post here and I'll toss it in the first post so we can keep track.

Yep, we got 3 freebies. It's hard to tell if they're the same but it looks like it to me. Either way they're all pretty bad butt! Taking some more pics now.

Going back through the thread it looks like there were 8 pieces sent from RO. The 5 we had ordered and 3 freebies. So I don't think any of those 8 are the ones that were ordered from SC, unless we lost some or there are additional pieces.

I'll get a pic of this one posted tonight too. I hate to say it guys but this one doesn't nor ever did have any blue in the rim...it's red and pinkish.

Alright guys, here are some pics for ya! No matter what I do I just can't get pics like those first ones I took! I've been trying and trying and they just don't come out as nice, pretty frustrating.

I've still gotta get a pic of the SC scan we picked up and I intentionally left out the Blue Angel until we see what happens, no point in bumming you guys out with a fading coral.

Thanks Justin! I don't know what you are talking about, the pics look great. I am sure they don't look exactly like how they look in your tank, but the pics are great and the corals look great. Just taking a bit longer to cook than expected, which is fine.

Has anybody checked out the new acans on the RO site? The lime stripe looks YUMMY!!! Man, this stupid hobby is addicting.

haha glad you like them! I really need to find someone to come over and show me how to use my Canon properly. I thought it would be easier taking top-down shots in the shallow tank but it really isn't! I still need to get myself a decent lens and one of those Avast portholes.

Psh if only it was that easy. I shelled out the $$ for a macro lens and cant take anything halfway decent with it. All my good pictures are with my 18-55mm standard lens :lol:

Alright guys, I'm gonna be out of town through Sunday so I wanted to give you a little update.

Blue Angel isn't looking good...still holding on, but not by much.

Everything else is looking great! I've never had a happier tank of acans and they're looking REALLY bright!

That's all. Pics when I get back! Don't worry I have someone checking on the tank while I'm gone but it's all so automated and I'll be less than an hour away so I'm not worried!

Still no growth on any of the favias besides the Purple War Coral and it's been 2 1/2 months at this point....

The acans are growing pretty well and can probably be chopped at this point...I really can't keep these favias around forever and I know you guys want some coral so we need to come up with some sort of plan. Any suggestions?

Sorry i haven't been on much lately, had coworker diagnosed w melanoma and went home for a couple weeks to figure treatment out and had a big fundraiser I was involved with on Sunday so the last week before that was pretty hectic as well. Just getting back to normal.

That is too bad about the favias. But great about the acans. Are the acans grown enough to have two heads each when cut?

If you cant hold it any longer, What are your thoughts on fragging some of the favia that way if it gets split up there would at least be multiples of some of the pieces. What are thoughts on splitting it up?

To get two heads each of the acans I'm going to have to cut then grow them out if we want to go that route. To get them all to 10 heads on a single frag disc is going to be tough.

Like I said I'm open to anything on the favias, they're just not growing so I don't know what to do at this point.

The end of Sept. will put us at 4 months for the grow out. What are thoughts of seeing where everything is growth wise mid late sept. and coming up with an exit strategy then? Would anybody else want to take a shot at the favias? Maybe get them under different lighting might encourage some growth? I would put myself out there, but I am way to wet behind the ears to take that responsibility.

Thanks for keeping in touch. I'm not in a hurry either, but at this rate I'm not quite sure how long we're looking at. Luvmyacans sent me a message asking if I was interesting in trying the favias. Here's my response:

I'd be down to take them, if everyone else was keen on the idea. Keep in mind my tank is less than 3 months old. Not that I'm nervous everything in my tank is doing amazing especially my LPS, just figured it was worth mentioning. My tank is lit by an 8 bulb T5 fixture, and I have a pretty heavy turnover flow wise. What are they under currently in your tank?

What would you want to do about the acans?

I'd have to get a frag rack, but I'd be up for growing them out if it was OK with everyone

Forgot to mention I feed the tank every other day with Rods Original and oyster feast, so everything's fat and happy in my tank. What does everyone else think? If anyone else would feel more comfortable taking them by all means speak up, I won't be offended.
