Sexy Corals Favia / Reef Odyssey Acan Blow-Out Grow-Out 2011!

No prob guys! This may not take as long as I was expecting since we've got so many eyes on the favias and heads on the acans.

Well guys, everything's looking awesome except the favia second from the bottom in the pics above (I forgot the name). I'm gonna talk to Mike and see if he can cut another little frag for us and if not I've got a nice one in my collection I'll add to the group.

I'll get some pics for you guys tomorrow, I'm gonna feed today so they'll be nice and fat!

Ahhh, that is the Mayan Sun! I hope it turns around or we can get a replacement. One of my favs for sure! Thanks for letting us know though. Much appreciated.

FYI-I am going on vacation starting on Fri for 10 days, so I might not be responsive if for any reason you need anything from me.

OH, and I know this is probably a good ways off, but what are thoughts about when the fragging should take place? Do we think we want to wait until the end to frag everything at once or frag the corals as they become ready that way it gives them more time to heal while the others are still growing out?

Unless I get a frag tank tied into the system we'll have to wait until closer to the end as I really don't have the room to add many more frags. There are definitely some pieces that could be cut now, but unless I get some additional frag racks (addl expense) I just don't have the space.

Wow, some are ready now? That is nuts. No problem, just thinking ahead. I think either way is fine.

So, is it still looking like we might lose the Mayan Sun? Or is she starting to turn around?

Mayan Sun is gone unfortunately, I'll be in touch w/ Mike as soon as he gets through everything for his crazy live sale.

On another note, I just purchased a frag system today from one of the members on here which will give me room if we want to cut some early and let them grow out more before shipment time comes. We've definitely got some acans that have 5+ heads on them. Once the system is up and stable we can discuss further...

Awesome luvmyacans thanks for staying on top of everything... My vote would be two let them grow out so we can have two eyes each for the cut.. I think they'll double much quicker being so big and healthly... To bad about the Mayan Sun i think is a good eater and quick grower so we should be ok..

Looking good! Just makes me want to see more pics!! Haha. Do you have and observation update? Are there fast growers, slow growers, how's the new frag of Mayan sun doing? What is that blue/red favia? Doesn't look familiar at all. Sweet looking though.

I am NO hurry at all. Haha. Keep running into snags so no time pressure from me! Haha. It is going to be a push for me to be ready in time at the rate I'm going. Sump is sealed nicely and passed the test tonight. Hope to have the system circulating water this weekend.

Nate-how is your build going? I think we were in the same boat. Maybe we should race?

Well, the favias don't really seem to be growing much at all besides the blue/red favia (I believe that's a Tyree piece?) although they do eat a decent amount. The acans are looking great, I see a few babies on some of them and they've all been pretty fluffy. They're always looking for food but I've been limiting to 2 feedings / week as to not over feed. The new frag of the mayan sun is looking pretty good, I think I'm going to re-mount it though so it'll be easier to frag later on. I think you can see it down in the bottom left of the acan shot.

That pic of the 4 acans actually makes the 3 look way more similar than they really do...

Well, we got the acans at least 3 weeks before the favia, so they have had a bit more time to settle in.

Thought I recognized it in the bottom left corner of the one shot. Can't wait to see more pics! By the end of this thing you are going to have made photo skills.

Haha race? I beat all my hiccups, Ive had my tank running for ~3 weeks now. Dying to get these frags in! Ive been slacking on my build thread ill have to update today.

Thanks for the pics though. Are those all the same acan in the last pic? They all look pretty similar haha. In a good way of course!

Just checked on the tank and this one has an eye that's basically missing down to the rock and looks to be receding outward. Going to give it a dip and see what happens.
