I completely agree. One is no different than the other, protect our reefs and fish, but the hobby has actually helped them too.Same here. Respect both side of the arguments but the science seems to defend removing some for the hobby doesn’t make an impact in ocean populations. Especially when you can still do this as you wish

I have no interest in the argument one way or the other. Given a choice my entire tank would be captive bred. But the science on this seems to show that the fisheries were actually being harmed by not catching. Yellow tangs were out competing the other tangs massively. At least now I should be able to get a potters Angel for less than $1000I completely agree. One is no different than the other, protect our reefs and fish, but the hobby has actually helped them too.
I think there would be the most satisfaction in catching all the fish myself.I have no interest in the argument one way or the other. Given a choice my entire tank would be captive bred. I love the idea of captive bred, tank raised corals. I would prefer them too, corals are much easier to grow and propagate. But the price, like you pointed out, and the yellow tangs from biota are typically much duller than wild caught.I have no interest in the argument one way or the other. This won't allow that. It's only allowing 7 collectors to harvest. The numbers are fairly low as well. Except for yellow tangs they're letting them collect almost 30k a year between them. Yes I actually read the proposal. I'm a nerdI think there would be the most satisfaction in catching all the fish myself.
We've changed so much we can't even begin to put things back. It's the nature of humans. We're the great adapter. We aren't all that good at anything really. Except adapting to any available niche. Conservation management is important, such as with other fish and wildlife. We kind of screwed up the balance of things.
Have you heard about Xenia coral invading the Caribbean?
